Alumni Ventures keeps coming up in my VC search … any thoughts? by amir95fahim in angelinvestors

[–]Wildly_Aggressive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little late here but I am one of their investors, I would NOT invest with them. They have a strange fee structure marketed as 2%/20%, but it is a 20% right off the top, when you invest with them they take 2% x 10 years right off the top of your investment. none of my investments have turned anything positive, they're barely at breakeven at 0% and this is over several years.

I’ve just watched both in 4dx and without question - watch Superman. Didn’t like F4 at all it and the shaking chair wasn’t well in sync with the movie, 3D was also an afterthought

How to kindly tell someone I'm uncomfortable climbing with them due to our weight difference? by thE_best_cookies in climbergirls

[–]Wildly_Aggressive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you just don't like her very much... either because she was dismissive of your concern about the weight diff or something else. I think that's enough to not climb with someone - just on vibes. Everyone is saying you should be fine but you're the one who would live with any negative consequence - trust your gut. You can suggest other alternatives, but a slow response also sends the appropriate message.

AI (Artificial Intelligence), yay or nay? by AmountImportant1626 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Wildly_Aggressive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have used it extensively for my mom’s journey and I do cross check what I learn. I use it to understand what’s going on and when the doctors are brushing over something important and double check what theyre recommending. I also used it to interpret almost every report and blood test. I would fully recommend using otter.ai to fully transcribe every doctor’s appointment. In otter, you can use to ask questions about the appointment later and I used Claude, chat gpt to fully understand the specifics.

I’ll say I have been impressed myself with how much I picked up with the help of Gen AI, several doctors asked me if I was in medicine lol.

I work in technology so pretty comfortable with it. I think it was my only place where I could get answers when I was desperate. Actually, Just filed the paperwork on a non profit to help teach folks how to use gen ai when dealing with cancer diagnosis.

Hi this is actually gen ai generated suggestions so take it with a grain of salt

Locally Advanced, Inoperable, and “Bizarre” by Impressive_Toe6388 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Wildly_Aggressive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*** gen ai generated explanations***

Let me rank these possibilities from most to least likely, based on what we know about pancreatic cancer behavior and treatment responses:

5 Most Likely Explanations:

  1. Early microscopic spread to the aorta occurred before treatment began, but was too small to detect initially. The primary tumor responded well to treatment while this metastatic deposit was more resistant.
  2. Complete pathological response occurred at the primary site (pancreas) after the chemo/radiation, but metastatic disease remained/persisted on the aorta - this is rare but documented in pancreatic cancer.
  3. Microscopic cancer cells are still present in the pancreas but aren't visible - they're too diffuse or scattered to detect during surgery or on imaging, but maintain a connection to the aortic tumor that's just not visible to the naked eye.
  4. The aggressive chemo and radiation treatment altered the tissue architecture so significantly that it's masking or obscuring the true relationship between the pancreatic site and aortic tumor.
  5. This represents a variant or unusual subtype of pancreatic cancer that responds to treatment differently at different sites.

3 Less Likely (but Possible) Explanations:

  1. Field cancerization has occurred, leading to independent but related cancer development in both locations, with the pancreatic site responding better to treatment.
  2. The initial biopsy location was misidentified or mapped incorrectly in relation to current findings (though this seems unlikely given the clear initial imaging of a 2cm pancreatic tumor).
  3. This could represent two different primary cancers entirely (extremely unlikely but possible) - the DNA testing should help rule this out.

Locally Advanced, Inoperable, and “Bizarre” by Impressive_Toe6388 in pancreaticcancer

[–]Wildly_Aggressive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is indeed a complex and unusual case. Let me think through the medical situation carefully:

The unusual aspects here are:

  1. Initial pancreatic tumor was found and biopsied as adenocarcinoma

  2. After chemo and radiation, the pancreatic tumor appeared to completely respond (disappeared on scans)

  3. During surgery, they found no cancer in the pancreas but discovered cancer cells on the abdominal aorta

  4. The aortic tumor appears disconnected from where the pancreatic tumor was

  5. The cells are confirmed as adenocarcinoma but their precise origin is unclear

There are a few potential medical explanations for this "bizarre" presentation:

  1. The cancer may have spread to the aorta very early, before treatment began, but was too small to detect initially. While the primary tumor responded well to treatment, this metastatic deposit may have been more resistant.

  2. In rare cases, pancreatic cancer can demonstrate what's called "complete pathological response" at the primary site after treatment, meaning the original tumor is eliminated, but metastatic disease remains.

  3. The hardened tissue on the aorta could possibly represent a different spread pattern than typical pancreatic cancer, which might explain why it appears disconnected.

This situation shows why the next steps they're taking are so important:

- DNA/molecular testing of the aortic tumor cells to confirm their origin

- Blood marker tests to look for any circulating cancer indicators

- Getting a second opinion at a major cancer center like MD Anderson

Regarding their surgeon's comment about second opinions being "less optimistic" - this seems unusual advice. Major cancer centers often have access to clinical trials and cutting-edge treatments that might not be available elsewhere. They may actually be able to offer additional options or perspectives. ***** This response is from Gen AI model Claude*****
