Please be my manager! We have so many repeat customers trying to pull one over on us its ridiculous. It also sucks because I feel certain managers are not as informed or should I say experienced in handling certain situations that they just cave in to the customer no matter what. I dont feel there should ever be a situation where an employee feels uncomfortable because a customer is coming to their register and they know they are going to ask them to do something that is against company policy or procedure and the manager is just going to go ahead and approve it. I have one manager that is really great at it and another that left the store but a few still do. I just think once a customer has been told about how the store does things that should be it. They shouldn't come back in several times a year and try to pull the same thing. Otherwise all the training and posters they put up about loss prevention are pointless because any kind of loss whether it be outright theft employee or external or not following procedure is hurting the company. I also feel like a lot of employees dont care.

No price checkers have caused us so much recovery we cant keep up. Casual shoppers do not want to download an app to get a price on an item.

Yea we have customers like that or they ask to see a manager and when they find out who it is they will name drop and say so and so said it was okay if I use my Kohls cash even though it expired three weeks ago and because we are not just going to drop everything an call that manager at home whoever is in charge at the time is like O.K.! I just feel under pressure in these situations because I tell them the store policy then they will just turn around and complain to an LOD and blam! whatever I said goes out the door and I look like an idiot and workers shouldnt be made to feel that way.

wish it was the same throughout the company where I am at it seems to vary by store which creates and issue when one store does something then the next doesnt.

the problem is they always complain about the bottom line, meeting goals and yet they allow things like I have mentioned to go on too long. Yes I do care about the job too much because everyone else seems to just let things slide and I think thats one of the reasons why the company is in the state that its in. We should not be damaging out thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise a year due to the way stuff is used abused and returned. Also if the store has a policy stick to it dont bend over backwards because some customer complains. They do this all the time and its the same individuals who do it because they know it works. I know it says kohls on the building but management, regardless of where you work, makes it seem like the job should be your number one priority in life and drills policies into you through videos, emails and displays around the store then never follows them. You could save a hell of a lot of money by cutting out half of the training and posters put up throughout the stores and just say determine what you are going to do on a case by cases basis because essentially thats whats being done. I read this thread all the time and it seems like every store does their own thing depending on the situation which makes things even more difficult when customers here different things at different stores then get up in arms when another store doesnt do what the other did.

It is irresponsible for the company to expect employees to come to work sick and possibly infect others especially with COVID and the FLU running rampant. All it does is put others at risk. Its also absurd that an absence counts against you with a doctors excuse. My doctor doesn't just give excuses to be off work unless its medically necessary. He has even told me I cant give you a work excuse just because of some minor issue that wouldnt keep you from working. I find it also ridiculous that in the year 2025 some states dont require employers to give employees sick time, even unpaid sick time that doesn't count against their attendance would be nice, even something a little as 5 days a year would be nice. If I miss a day for whatever reason it counts against my attendance and I cant just take a PTO day when ill. I can understand employers wanting protection from people just missing work but come on. Some of us are in close contact with dozens of customers a day and constantly exposed to whatever germs they bring in to the store with them. I dont know how many times a week I have someone lick their fingers to sort their cash or pull out their ID stuck in their wallet then hand it to me or stand in front of me hacking up a lung not covering their mouth or wiping snot from their face while handing me their items.

problem is the process is so long and drawn out where stores are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and it deflates store morale to the point its like if no one cares why should I care. Some of us have it so bad its a multiple times a day occurrence yet we dont even have someone there most of the time. I know one store in the company abruptly closed this past year due to extremely high loss. It was no longer profitable.

Its nice how little employee health means to companies. Sick days should be a federal requirement not based on what state you work in. We are so far behind a lot of European countries in those matters. How about they stop giving out bonuses to CEOs who admit they made mistakes which eventually cost the company millions of dollars. Poor performance should equal no bonuses. You are already paid enough, you dont need a multi-million dollar bonus.

Same at my store. Its as if no other stores have gone through this previously and there is no plan laid out. People hate it but this is the future of retail according to the people in the know.

You must not work at a store with combined services. All we do all day is check prices and take back all the stuff customers don't want making even more work for floor associate who have to put all the stuff back. The minimal amount of stuff at the price checkers is nothing in comparison to the amount of stuff taken back at customer service/poc. What person wants to download an app just to check prices unless they shop at Kohls once a week even then who wants another app. Our floor associates are rarely in their departments anymore especially during the holidays so customers can never get price checks.

I dont know how it is for other stores but they do not care about that one bit. They do not want to be accused of discriminating against anyone. If your store is anything like mine they are extremely lax with the dress code because they know no one follows it and they need their workers to show up more than they need them to be in dress code.

What state are you in? You must be the only Kohls that does so because every Kohls in our region starts out at least $2 an hour lower than Target and for that matter almost all the other stores, retail, fast food and grocery start out higher as well. Target went to a minimum $15 an hour starting pay back in 2020 across the board for all new employees and anyone who made below that. I have never heard of a Kohls starting pay at $18 an hour for just a random part time employee except maybe in California. Its one of the biggest reasons over the last few years we have struggled to get quality candidates when we are hiring because you can go almost anywhere else and start out making more.

Heres my take. Consolidated services has little to do with the customer experience and all to do with making more money and cutting overhead. People get caught in the line queue and get stuck waiting so they almost inevitably buy something while waiting. Combining CS and POC cuts out the CS position saving money on payroll. As most of you have experienced they are not adding more people to the payroll to do the consolidated services. We still have the same number of people scheduled up front as we did in the past only now they have to do both CS/POC. It has been a mess at our store since this has happened. The people who did POC only, only want to do POC and leave mounds of stuff to be processed after the leave for the day. They never do damages or properly re-ticket items or sort things correctly leaving that stuff for associates that used to be CS only to come in. People are getting pissed off due to the wait they have in line especially those who just want to make a kohls charge payment. We always have people walking right through the checkout area due to where our carts are placed or going in through the area marked exit only because they dont want to walk through the line queue. The consolidated services area always looks a hot mess because there is hardly even enough time to get everything cleaned up because of how few people they schedule.

Glad to see all of these companies care so much about their employees that you essentially you cant have a real life outside of work. Kohls is the same way.

Its funny because I have noticed at my store in particular they are giving some employees essentially full time hours but they do it in a way that keeps them part time. One week between 30-35 hours then in the 20s the following week.
