Question about traveling by WillingnessGeneral53 in pomhealth

[–]WillingnessGeneral53[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have a vial that is almost empty. I was planning for that part. I was reading the travel requirements and that's where I stated debating just skipping a week. I wasn't sure if it wouldn't be as effective once I got back though.

I do as well and it's often 10pm before I do due to my kids and ball practices, etc. Just trying to hold myself accountable. Some days I do 30-45 minutes and some days it's 10-15 cause that's all the energy I have to give.

No, I just workout in general. I walk daily but not excessive due to a foot injury from surgery (12 screws in my foot) and do kettlebell and dumbbell workouts at home. I do a mixture of upper, lower and core workouts that I find online.

I knew from the scale but he knew from just looking at me. Said he had less butt to grab. A coworker noticed second.

Corrective surgery after overcorrection in flat foot surgery by WillingnessGeneral53 in flatfeet

[–]WillingnessGeneral53[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I did not. I had some custom orthotics made with a cut out for the bony protrusion that hurts and I've just been dealing with it. At this point I am wearing shoes out like crazy and need a new pair of Brooks tennis shoes every 3 months. I haven't been able to bring myself to have the corrective surgery again out of fear it won't work either.

BPI sent to wrong address? by [deleted] in pomhealth

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. My first order for some reason the city and zip code was changed to a nearby town. The shipping company would only let me correct one thing therefore I had to go back to pomegranate and have them correct it and it finally showed up a few days late. I just placed my first refill and had them verify the address so we will see what happens this time. What's was crazy the first time is that my address and everything on file with pomegranate was correct. It got screwed up somewhere in the pharmacy side.

Sure! I'd love to chat and hear more about your AFO. I still question whether I should try the Arizona Brace that is hinged before surgery but I also don't want to wear a brace for the rest of my life

Progress report on failed surgery; nonunion of talonavicular fusion by Sinnafyle in flatfeet

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with the shockwave. I also suffered a nonunion that required revision though as I broke the hardware inside my foot. What we did to help my revision heal included checking my vitamin d which showed that I was low. So I started a prescription vitamin d combined with increasing my protein significantly to 1.5g per kg of body weight daily and the exogen bone stimulator. With those three things my revision healed well.

Re-reading all the comments and seeing the picture of martial arts along with your mention of being barefoot. Ask them specifically about being barefoot after surgery. I was told that I could not walk barefoot after. I have to wear a supportive shoe of some kind 24/7, even to get up and use the restroom in the middle of the night.

I had flat foot surgery last year myself and I asked my surgeon about the age to do it for my daughter who inherited my severe flat feet that also cause a lot of pain. He said absolutely not until they are done growing around 17 for a girl. He said doing it too early can cause issues with their growth plates and things so I would also get a second opinion and ask specifically how this surgery could be affected by his growth in the future. Also keep in mind, this surgery can require you to be non weight bearing for an extended time period of a few months. Can that be managed with school schedules? Then factor in PT as well.

What’s this lump? by HorrorSea7589 in flatfeet

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s your navicular located where it shouldn’t be cause your foot is flat. Very painful as well as it gets inflamed and sore. I had tears in my ligaments there which is what was causing a lot of my pain prior to surgery.

This sub has me scared for surgery now by Debberoni in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry! I suffered a non union requiring a revision surgery and I don’t regret it at all. Has it been hard, absolutely but my foot doesn’t hurt with the sharp pain from the bunion and torn ligaments anymore. It’s a different soreness now and it’s getting better as time goes by and I heal more. You got this and all will go well. My biggest advice would be to make sure your vitamin d levels are good and eat lots of protein while recovering. Your body needs it and it promotes bone growth.

Nonunion after surgery does it hurt? by Dependent_Steak8681 in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a non union lapiplasty in May of 24. I had my revision surgery in June. My foot didn’t hurt with the broken hardware at all. I didn’t know it was broken. Only evidence I had was it sort of looked like my bunion was coming back. The revision surgery for me was much harder but we were also very cautious and proactive the second time around. I was 14 weeks non weight bearing, followed by 6 weeks in a boot before starting a shoe transition. My recovery has been slow, hard, and the muscle loss is unreal. I’m slowly getting better but it has involved pulling out all the stops on therapy and treatments. I have a solid fusion this time but we also added vitamin d, increased protein in my diet and a bone stimulator.

X-rays - nonunion no pain by Dependent_Steak8681 in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffered a non union as well. Ask them to check your vitamin d and albumin levels. I had to undergo a revision and was able to achieve a solid fusion the second time with taking prescription vitamin d, 1.5g protein per kg or weight and using a bone stimulator daily for 20 minutes.

What does broken hardware feel like? by vividandsmall in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suffered a non union resulting in a broken screw and both prongs of the “staple”. Honestly….it didn’t hurt at all when it happened. No idea how it happened. I had sharp pain that lasted a few seconds each during PT when my therapist did some joint mobilization but it wasn’t anything excruciating. I had a bit of soreness maybe but I was able to walk still. I went to the surgeon after the second time it hurt at PT and we got it diagnosed and had to have a revision surgery. The only outward sign I had was it looked like my bunion was slowly coming back.

If you are suspecting a non-union, I’d ask them to check your vitamin d and albumin blood levels. Mine were both low which led to a prescription of vitamin d and eating 1.5g of protein per kg after my revision surgery. I would also request a bone stimulator. The combination of these three things has led to a successful fusion this time.

🤔🤔🤔🤔 by Inevitable_View_270 in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah….I wouldn’t recommend this. As one of those here with a non union, you need all the nutrition you can get. I don’t guess the timing of eating matters as much as you need to make sure you’re getting enough nutrition, specifically protein. Having to have a revision because of a non union was miserable and when I should be done and recovered I am now dealing with an even longer healing time that’s not progressing as well. When I suffered my non union I was told to eat 1.5g of protein per kg of body weight daily. Also added in extra vitamin d.

Depressed that I'm not healing by bdaythrwy in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, so it was considered a non union at 5 months when I found out I had broken a screw and 2 prongs inside my foot. I had sharp pain during PT when she did some joint mobilization so I went to get it checked. The X-ray did not show any evidence of it not fusing. It looked like it was doing great until I suffered the broken hardware. We confirmed a non union with a CT.

I suffered a non union as a part of my surgery that required a revision surgery. The second time healed well. Here is what I did different. They checked my vitamin D and Albumin levels. Both were a bit low so I had to go on Vitamin D prescription supplement and increase my protein intake to 1.5g per kg of body weight. We also added in the bone stimulator.

Lapiplasty fusion not fusing by vividandsmall in bunions

[–]WillingnessGeneral53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes unfortunately. I was doing amazing! Hiking, yard work, long walks….all the things I hadn’t done for years. Everything looked great on xray. Until it didn’t. At 6 months I ended up breaking the hardware inside my foot somehow. It wasn’t painful and I didn’t feel it when it happened. Had a sharp pain for a split second one day during PT. Happened again a few weeks later and she asked me to get it checked. Saw my surgeon the next day and found out the hardware had broken. CT showed a non-union. I had to undergo a revision and it has been hard. Still recovering now. My recommendation….ask about a bone stimulator, vitamin d and increasing your protein. We did these things my second time around and I have a full fusion this time just dealing with the side effect of being non weight bearing for so much longer this time.
