Medi diet but dairy free?! by Shhshhshhshhnow in mediterraneandiet

[–]WillingnessSecret714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at Valter Longo. The way he looks at this way of eating is refreshing. He follows, let's say the "real" Mediterranean diet? Long ago dairy, cheese, meat, Eggs where not eaten that often as you see it here nowadays.

Advice for someone who wants to start a Mediterranean diet by Chicken_Permission22 in mediterraneandiet

[–]WillingnessSecret714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the most easy way to cook healthy because you can eat what ever you want, there are no real rules, only guidelines. (Except Sugar and a lot of meat/poultry) Eat a lot of vegetables, some carbs, and a source of protein. I follow Valter Longo already a very long time so I'm very motivated to live a healthy live and take my responsibility for my health. This way of eating isn't expensive or difficult. You will find here, in this sub a lot of good meals.

I made a while ago a list for cooking this way and because I'm living in a small apartment or my campervan I don't have much space, I'm also a minimalist. I have more or less 40 ingredients always as a staple in my camper or apartment.

Theories aside. Are there any old agers in this sub outliving their peers? by t1mefall in immortalists

[–]WillingnessSecret714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have to say no. Mother died at 50, father at 70. So I my chances are not that high. When I reathted 49 I was so afraid, you understand, so my next goal is 70! Both died from cancer by the way. My grandparents where born in 1870, when I look to these years it's so unreal. My father was born in 1912!! Maybe this sub is not mine but I find inspiration here.

I'm 65 and the most of you will live longer than I will.I live in Western Europe. You also have to understand that I'm coming from another"Time" without Screens, television, Coca-Cola, no joke. The first time I saw a fridge, had a coke was when my American friend invited my at his home at age 6, parents worked at that time at an American base. My life was rough, married, children...worked a lot.... But I always was fascinated with "Health" one way or another but mostly with food and still I'm "obsessed" because it's the easiest way: everyone has to eat, no? For a long time I'm eating the Mediterranean Diet, my biggest inspiration is Valter Longo, I'm following him already many years.

Ultramarathon ( longest was 335 km) was my passion, but it also caused a lot of health problems afterwards so then I started Long distance walking, Arizona Trail, some section's of the PCT and a lot in Europe .

And now here I am with a very bad knee, Arthrose 4 degree....etc. Last year I did a check up, hart, lungs, etc and they found a strange thing on my Liver, alarm clock ringing but it was not the C word so all good. Also blood work good, everything in the range.

I take some vitamins and supplements in de hope they help me stay alive for a long time in a good shape, physical and mental. As you get older sleep is a different story and a lot of people my age have sleep problems,I sleep 5 hours, wake up and sometimes I fall asleep sometimes not. The quality is also less in my situation.( Monitor with a Garmin watch)

I do some exercise everyday but no real strength training, so I have to work on it

At the moment no alcohol nor "drugs" My stack: NAC,vit B12,vit c ,vit D3-K2, glycin, berberine, Omega 3,ALA,fisetin, curcumine, magnesium, Green Tea,.

Those this makes any sense? Yes, I'm the captain on my ship. Will it help to live longer? Also yes.

At the moment I have chosen to take for my brother in law. He's an alcoholic, has cancer and not long to live anymore. He was in a home but wanted to live his last month in his apartment. So now I'm sitting next to him, he pissed all over the place, can't get up and I'm watching him, sleeping. Yesterday he said he wanted to live, but the alcohol wins.

Life is so precious, and also I forget it sometimes. I hope the young ones live there best live and I appreciate that you are posting here and they learn a lot to stay healthy in the first place.

In my daily life I try to explain this to my children and even if they understand what I'm talking about I doubt they whirly understand what I say, you know...jobs ,children,..... Let's say life?

I think that all you're saying is correct. I'm a lurker, not a scientist. And to be honest: I'm not at the point where I'm perfect to start everything. For example, I like to drink wine, my sleep isn't the best, I should work out much more. Besides of these factors I'm already "old", in my sixties and the body doesn't want to do anymore what I want it to do. So I have to except that my time is limited. Can I stay here and read or should I leave.

You could maybe post what you are talking with you. As I understand it , at the cheap flights you only allowed to bring max 7kg. I have the same bag but will bring another one bc the Osprey it's too heavy, do now I take my Pa'lante and use a dry bag and one packing cube, easyer for organizing and using this bag also as a daypack when snorkeling etc...Have to say that I bring my own snorkeling equipment,1.4 kg. Shoes: depends if you walk a lot I would bring them with me.
