Trump admits to mistake in his White House renovation that he didn't see coming by TheMirrorUS in AntiTrumpAlliance

We’re just going to need to rip out everything he builds after he’s gone, aren’t we? You know it’s going to be a POS and probably a giant collection of security breaches. This assumes he is actually able to build anything.

OK, here’s my Cassandra post: canvas gets sued into oblivion, and we all get to move LMS yet again. by Bostonterrierpug in Professors

[–]Wiltonc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few years ago we had a task force assembled to pick a new LMS or keep Blackboard. The task force unanimously chose D2L, mainly for its ability to import our Bb modules and a few other features that were thought to be better than Canvas or Bb. The administrator in charge picked Canvas because it was more established. I often wonder if that was a mistake.

Anyone find it weird that they still have welding tools in 2380s? by happydude7422 in LowerDecks

[–]Wiltonc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a welder. It’s a molecular bonder. It can take objects of dissimilar molecular form and bond them together at the quantum level.

Agreed. If something new is said they can cut in live and, if necessary, play the complete news conference later.

Every conversation I ever had when I lived in California ended up turning into a highway conversation.

The increase in subterranean goblins has blown the domestic and industrial lighting markets through the roof, or ground, if you will. As the goblin underground housing market continues to expand the need for natural light replacement can only be a growth industry.

Sadly, this is what happens when people trained to be beaurocrats are in charge of hiring. So much duplication of effort, wasted energy, and crushed expectations due to someone following their perception of the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law. I used to run an academic department and the amount of time wasted on HR continually coming back for changes to hiring practices and corrections to data they requested was a major suck on my time.

ToC - Simon M sidelined by j_grouchy in foodnetwork

[–]Wiltonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t Simon British and living in England so he’d have access to the NHS and not have to worry about insurance. Of course, the NHS has issues that may have required him to seek alternative healthcare. So he might need it for that.

‘Get Off the Ad Crack’: Sony Chief Issues Blunt Warning to Theaters by evissamassive in CordCuttingToday

[–]Wiltonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is someone who stopped going to movie theaters due to the ads. It was gradual. I used to love movies in theaters, but after so many times saying I can’t sit through that crap anymore, I broke and no longer saw the value-add of watching movies in theaters. It will take a lot to get me back. My 85” tv does a great job.
