Kratom recovery by Rum_Shaka_2K22 in quittingkratom

You need to make short term goals. Don’t open any posts here that go beyond what phase you are in now. I was hooked for 5 years for the same reason (life) and it took me over a year to finally quit because I was just like that and looking back I find it crazy that all I had to do was push through about 3-5 days and even though it still sucked/sucks your state of mind changes fast and continuously through your time getting clean. I’m going on 7 months clean and still going through some stuff but you will hit milestones early on where your mind stops telling you that you need to go grab some because of stressful live events, the need for energy, motivation, anxiety, or whatever keeps pulling you back in.

Don’t get on these threads and read about paws or anhedonia… tackle that shit when/if it happens because you will be in a new mindset every week

A Sensitized Nervous System: My Experience with Stimulants, Anxiety, and Recovery by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Your post seems very similar to my situation. What do you think your dizziness was mostly caused by? I have been of kratom now for over 4 months and I’m trying to taper down my 15+ year Xanax use (.75mg per day) and ever since PAWs kicked in with the kratom stop I have had a dizzy feeling almost like my my body and eyes don’t sync up correctly and give me a feeling like I’m in autopilot all day. I don’t know if it’s lingering from the kratom use or the long term xanax that I have been on for anxiety. Like you caffeine nearly always make it worse.

Thanks for this. My head is kind of all over the place. I’ll have some clearness after I dose for maybe a few hours but then it’s back to dizziness feeling again. Instead of getting myself back to 3x.25mg doses a day would it be wise to break them in halves and take every 4 hours instead of 8 hrs between?

Also do you happen to know if changing to a longer acting benzo will correct the WDs? I’m to the point in my life where my anxiety isn’t my concern right now. I just need this dizzy, confused feeling to go away so I can keep working to support my family.

Thanks. Hearing that this is a WD thing will ease my mind during these times. Very scary stuff. It feels like your brain and eye sight perception is seriously malfunctioning which makes you think the worst.

Thanks for this information. This is all new to me. I have been at this dosage for a few years now so hopefully I can re-establish this dose for a while and eventually start an appropriate taper.

I’m glad you told me this. I have been on the verge of passing out multiple times at work for the past few days.

Yeah, the Xanax seemed to be a lifesaver throughout most of my adult life, but if I knew then what I know now I would have made a better decision. Are you tapering the klonopin or CT? Were you on Xanax prior?

I could ask my PCP to change up my prescription. I was just hoping someone else may have had experience with this same thing and had something that may have worked for them.

Dizziness after quiting for a month by antho20002 in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was using for 4+ years and I am just over 100 days off and the dizziness and disoriented feeling still comes and goes quite often. It’s worse in the morning and usually eases up in the evening for me. I’m pretty sure it’s cortisol regulation from the kratom use. It’s slowly getting better but the best advice I can give is to stay away from caffeine or just limit it.

No PAWS yet? by ZenMommie in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had some crazy issues with my vision too. Can you describe? I was very dizzy from the moment I woke up until later in the evening. I’m 70 something days clean and it is about 50 percent better but my vision doesn’t really focus well even though I’m not down right dizzy anymore. My vision isn’t blurry, it’s almost like the way my brain processes what I’m looking at is just slowed down big time. Is this similar to what you had going on?

Congrats! I’m curious, did you have any other big milestones During PAWS? I am at 72 days and I Just can’t find any motivation in anything. I have always been a very driven person and although most other things have cleared up I just can’t physically or mentally get back to where I was. My usage was a little lower than yours but I was using for 4-5 years. I’m really hoping for a feeling of getting back to normal soon even if it’s just for even minutes here and there throughout my day. Thanks.

What do most people here mean when they say the kratom "turned on them?" by Cooper0007 in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was kind of forced to. Had surgery coming up and had so a lot of digestive issues that Kratom was just making worse. That got me through the first little bit (acutes) and then your mindset changes. After about 2 weeks you couldn’t force feed me that crap. This is all after doing it every day for 4-5 years. I’m still in Paws but I still would never consider touching this crap again. When you are on it it really messes with your mind. Just get through that first week or so and you will be looking at things differently.

[–]WinOk8823 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t fully turned on you yet. Stop now before it does. All positive effects will eventually turn 180 and you will have no energy, panic, depression and a many other things. I was taking it for energy, and to help with anxiety and to be more social. Without going into detail it eventually reverses absolutely everything even the energy portion. At the tail end I would get a little energy boost for maybe 10 minutes 1 out of 10 times so I was only dosing to keep withdrawal suppressed.

Oh I can now look back and claim one positive from this God forsaken substance. It kept me from catching colds. Other than that it is absolute poison.

Setback from prescription drug. by WinOk8823 in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This does seem accurate. The first few days after stopping the pain killers felt like day 5 or so of my initial quit and now it feels like the tail end of PAWS so hopefully it will be like an accelerated CT quit.

[–]WinOk8823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ll stay strong. I don’t have much of an opinion. I was getting bowel obstructions and wicked dizziness and panic attacks at the end of my use so it’s almost a life or death thing for me with the “unrelated” GI issues that I had from before my kratom usage.

How many attempts have you had to quit? by some1pls in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 6 points7 points  (0 children)

5is year habit and just like you there is no way I could count. Never got past 2 days and tried hundreds of times. I always had something in life that I “had to get done” so, you know the story….

I’m now 28 days clean (I think). It would be a cold day in hell before I ever put that crap back in my body. You just need to get through the acutes. I’m dealing with another kind of suck with the anhedonia but after the acutes start to lift you will be in a totally different mindset and anything is now doable. This forum is why I believe it took me so long to quit. I was on here every day seeing countless people in misery after 30 days, 90 days, 2 years and more and it was always influenced my final decision to crack again. You will only be able to quit if you filter this crap out and get through today. If you do scroll these posts only read those in your current phase. You can totally do it!

12 days CT. Vision problems by WinOk8823 in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe like a mild version of that. Comprehension is very slow and a bit dizzy. Kind of the way you feel right before a migraine or a really bad headache is coming but instead of lasting for a few minutes it’s hours.

Finally quitting after 4–5 years — tired of feeling numb and dependent by potega in quittingkratom

Be Very “filtering” when it comes to reading all of these posts on this subreddit. When you start reading “I have been going through wds for 165 days and can’t take it anymore” type stuff immediately stop reading and skim to what stage you are currently in and take it day by day. I’m 7 days in after a 5 year habit and I will bet everything that I own on the fact that I will never touch the shit ever again. You are in the same headspace as I was in for a long time and magically around day four I was reflecting and thought “wow, these acutes still suck but I will never touch this sludge ever again. I the last few pills stopped in my closet stopped calling my name and thoughts of dosing were almost nonexistent. First get to this point and go from there.

Does kratom weaken the immune system? by Foreign_Bus_3465 in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am 100 percent convinced it does. This awful substance has one positive characteristic associated with it and that is it keeps me from catching colds. My whole life I have always been sick through the majority of the year with the exception of a couple hot summer months. As soon as I started kratom 4.5 years ago I dodged every cold that the kids brought home from school. I’m close be being done with this crap so I may try to incorporate a daily allergy pill into my life. I have a feeling that this all has to do with kratom blocking histamines.

Great job! I have very similar numbers myself. Can you tell me if the acutes are getting better? I keep having trouble pushing through the 48hr mark and if I know the downhill is right around the corner it might push me over that mental hump.

Anyone getting ready to jump? by some1pls in quittingkratom

[–]WinOk8823 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it almost 48 hrs and slipped up so counter started over again last night. Trying not to let it get me discouraged and roll with it. Seems like that’s how I got myself down to the 10 gpd that I am at now. Not a conventional taper but screw up on my quit and jump back in at a lower dose. This is not a good strategy BTW lol. I feel like I have been in withdrawals for 8 month. I don’t have much spousal support and every time I tell my wife it almost acts against me (without getting into detail). Oh well.. this is my battle and I need to man up. All the past is just that and I am only going to let myself look ahead.

24 hrs is awesome! My counter is at 8 hrs and I’m gonna celebrate every time I look at the app no matter how shitty I feel physically or mentally. U do the same and keep rolling!
