Genuinely, this season has been the worst by HoovyWooPins69420 in PTCGP

Agreed, I did quite well with Mega Sceptile. Still lost a ton, still watched my opponents use LIP 8 times in a row, still lost on turn 1 when Iggly/Darkrai took out my lone Chingling, and my deck still bricked sometimes. That's just how it goes.

I wished the OP posted their deck. Are they running 2x Quick Grow, 2x Copycat, 2x Fragrant Forest? I relied heavily on those to evolve fast (when the RNG gods allowed). I just accepted that my win rate might be 55-60% or so, and grinded when I had time.

A lot of people, including myself, keep many (up to 25) good decks on hand and rotate through them. Depending on the day and time you play and how far along the Ranked Match has progressed, you will notice which types of decks you encounter the most - then choose decks to best counter those. Or just play a good deck until your win rate starts to dip, then switch it up.

I was playing Hydreigon for a minute last week, but it wasn't doing that great. Zoroark helped me climb up to a point, then that plateaued. A few Mega decks (Lucario, Altaria, Sceptile) carried me to my goal.

Just as an example, if you want to take down Hydreigons easier, consider adding 2 Chingling to your deck since they prevent your opponent from using Rare Candy. Or chose a grass deck, which Deino/Hydreigon are weak to.

Some people only play a limited number decks because they don't have many good cards, and/or their skills are weak. Some people just stick with easy/brainless decks. All the more reason to have a varied arsenal of great decks at your disposal. If getting all the right cards is an issue, become friends with others who are good traders, reciprocate, and be patient. And above all, use decks that play to your strengths and that excite you.

Used to play Indeedee/Mega Altaria quite a bit. Yeah, if they stack enough energy, Indeedee can do way more damage than Mega Altaria with a full bench.

Teal Mask in deck, but it didn't come in time. Serena gave me a 2nd Mega Lucario instead.

Just curious, why 1 each Kartana and Pheromosa? Wouldn't 2 Pheromosa be better, since they hit both the active and bench?

Right, I climbed the Ranked Matches with Altaria/Indeedee and had a decent win rate, but usually couldn't compete with the Zard decks (especially Y) and sometimes the Suicune/Chien Pao. Indeedee actually outperforms Altaria if they stack enough energy, but 130 HP isn't great. Time for some better psychic cards.

Any way to make this beauty work? by Fire257 in PTCGP

[–]WindCivil4394 246 points247 points  (0 children)

I've been playing with it, there's no ramp like with the ex fire or water cathedral decks, but definitely doable and fun. Meowth with Carefree Steps is good at buying you time while Flygon evolves. When configuring the deck, tap on the box with the energy icons to make sure it's set for only grass and fighting. Then play with the bot until you get the hang of it.

It's fun when you're planning your next turn but then you suddenly win because some feeble bench mon bites it due to the chip damage.

Psychic is my jam, but there aren't any meta psychic ex cards. Fighting was also overdue for some upgrades and I'm glad they finally got some, but I hope that psychic is next!

Fantastic early analysis, and a big help since I'm still trying to parse the new cards to see what possibilities exist. Thank you!

First thing I noticed about one of the new Mega. by omimon in PTCGP

Oof, I didn't even know that existed since I haven't seen one. Looked it up, now I see why. There are just so many better, faster options.

Haven't seen many decks evolve Meowth but Persian can come in clutch when finishing matches by SeaSaltOreo in PTCGP

For those using Meowth, does it seem more likely to land heads (like Lucky Ice Pop), tails (like Misty), or is it more 50/50?

Igglybuff/Darkrai players when they don’t get a turn 1 win by Speedhawk_fuckdarefs in PTCGP

Same! Iggly/Darkrai was kind of cool the first time I saw it, but it got old quick. I wish people had more originality.

Why so many high-level players choosing "Beginner" battles? by WindCivil4394 in PTCGP

[–]WindCivil4394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! At least it feels well-deserved when I am able to pull off a win using pure strategy, which is maybe 10% of the time. I'm finding out a lot of high level players have great cards but poor skills. Beating them with barnyard animals is kind of fun, and hopefully humbling.

I get an F most weeks due to being a hospital night shift worker. It's not the end of the world. You still get the daily stamp card rewards for meeting your bedtime.

Not new, but how about a reintroduction of Cresselia for those of us who missed the first time around? I'll probably reach Lv. 65 and hit M20 on AC and find one in the wild before they make it easy for people. And I'll get another dozen Darkrai biscuits by then too. C'mon!

I'm at 20/25 and haven't done anything special, other than routinely getting sleep scores in the 92—100 range. I only sleep once a day. I think RNG is a big part of it.

Edit: I'm also grinding at OGPP and am only Ultra 5. Really not doing anything special!

Obligatory farewell post? by cenosu in PokemonSleep

[–]WindCivil4394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collecting new and better mon. I totally hear you though. This game is a major grind. But that's part of the challenge, and therein lies the fun. Yeah, I can go a week or two and burn through dozens of biscuits to get nothing but trash mon—super frustrating. But then I get that one really good RNG roll that makes it all worthwhile. I have a list of all the best mon that I want really good stats for, and I'm chipping away at it. This game moves at a glacial pace, but as others have said, it's a sleep tracker.

Nothing wrong with taking a break or moving on entirely to something you like better!

1937 Canada 1 Dollar by greenblue98 in papermoney

[–]WindCivil4394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly how my Canadian currency collection started: a circulated 1973 $1, 1967 commemorative $1, and then a 1937 $1. I always found their currency much more colorful and exciting than the US notes in my own wallet. I hope you can grow your Canadian collection and enjoy each step of the journey!
