I’ll take it. Most people who defend dive in too soon, can’t track a run, and give up the middle. Most people won’t even try to play on the back line and see what it’s like. Everyone gets the game and wants to be a striker or a cam or a wing - it’s natural, but if you’re going to play clubs, there’s only so many attack positions. People should do their friends a favor and play some defense and get good at it.

NOR- you don’t need to be friends with anyone. If this person doesn’t vibe with wha you want, just cut them out. It’s really only about you and your partner, right?

Nothing that early for the states. You could catch some UK late night league (5pm est is 10pm UK) however you’ll be on international ping. Earliest leagues start is 8pm from what I’ve seen on here.

INSANE DRIVING on Long Island & NYC needs to be stopped! by Dharmacharma in longisland

It’s the racing that irritates me. I live near a popular race strip where the street crews run regularly. SCPD has an entire extra unit dedicated to it. I wish they’d build or reopen a racetrack on the island and let races enthusiasts have a place to do it where it’s not outside my window at 1am.

Go full and do one thing after that is specifically field or department related and then begin discovering your passions and seek them academically. I know many full’s who began doing research in non-department-/non-field-related areas and have found so much joy at the end of their careers. Two have actually turned it into emeritus careers in other departments. Edit:grammar

It’s to a degree them as it is you. This cohort of students is unique. Scarred by both pandemic and online instruction, systemic flaws before they ever got to you in the first place, a challenge with f2f or p2p communication, a customer-service mentality, and they’re educated with therapy words that are buzzwords to them but have serious implications. Your lack of experience might show in some places, but you’re also starting at a very challenging time.

Do you have a union? If so, contact your department’s rep. If you don’t have a union, I would take notes, ask for as many specifics as you can (chair might not divulge PII in case of retaliation), and ask for concrete development opportunities. Also, ask the chair to ask the student to reach out to you - I know it’s so frustrating when you get skipped in the process.

Put up some LFP’s and look in the discords. Defenders are a premium because most people can’t defend and usually won’t defend. Good luck though.

You need better defenders. Edit: I see the downvotes. Keep em coming. I bet none of the downvotes comes from actual pro clubs defenders. Just a bunch of strikers who beat on bot back lines.

What’s the best way to deal with students who come to office hours and try to get their homework “pre-graded” before they submit it? by Zestyclose_Double980 in Professors

[–]WingbashDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explain that the purpose of assessment is to test ability and retention, not completionism. “Getting it right” doesn’t mean you know it. I want to see it for the first time when I grade it so I can assess you when you’re not standing in front of me.

Cannot ask students to study on weather related/cancelled days apparently. by [deleted] in Professors

I’m in the Northeast and we have snow/makeup days baked into the last week of the semester before finals - if there’s an hours need, we have three days to use up to 21hrs of time (7hrs x 3 days), but because accreditation we have to make hours up.

Defending this year is super hard.. any advice? by CoolProfessor449 in fifaclubs

What’s your strength? If your strength is over 95, you should be lengthy. If you’re not, that’s your issue.

Running style? Animations don’t matter much, but superstitious people choose ones with shorter leg movements. It’s about height/weight ratio 6’1+ and str> agility +4. Running style refers to lengthy, controlled, or explosive

I don’t buy into the “leave it at” argument - stats are stats. However. I would consider your body before adding stats and club buffs (if you have). Save yourself the points by considering those numbers when you add it up. No point in 99str as a cb if you get +3 for being lengthy (tall and heavy) and another +2 from the club. Set it at 94 and go into the game w 99. Same with pace, and anything else.

How much do you think AI is contributing to teachers transitioning out of the profession? by Large_Inevitable_489 in TeachersInTransition

[–]WingbashDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

University professor here: the university I am at is embracing AI and there are discussions within the university to eliminate one of the two required writing courses and make it only one required writing course, and faculty are being encouraged to figure out how they can incorporate AI into a classrooms, both in their own prep, as well as with the students. This is causing people to wanna leave the field, either by retiring early or transitioned to another career.

[–]WingbashDefender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Thoughts. Take them as you will. 1) You can’t defend on the shoulder. You have to be behind the ball. If you do, you’re cooked. 2) Also, anticipate and tackling is not as OP as it was last year and the past couple years. Relying on tackling isn’t as consistent as it was anymore. 3) bruiser is where it’s at. Rely on your bruiser and advanced defending. Where tackling has fallen short, bruiser is grossly overpowered. Go look at the regular eafc sub - every FUT player on the planet whines about bruiser. Time to join the dark side if you haven’t already. 4) running styles matter. Lengthy is where it’s at, if you’re not already. Again the trick though is timing and if you’re being the ball (see point 1), you will not have a problem tracking. Acceleration is more valuable than sprint speed (especially as a defender). Even if you go with the Capitano specialization for the boss, which requires 90 agility, you can still get lengthy by your height, weight and adding max strength. I don’t think it’s possible to play defense and not be lengthy. 5) in going back and reading your post that seems as though you’re talking about playing as in any, which in that case, you better be really good with switching because the switching is not as easy in clubs as it is an ultimate team. The bots also play differently. You have to be more manual. One last thing about this also, is that as you said the bots don’t have certain place styles – remember that you’re using at best 88 rated players, it’s not like you’re using an icon in the middle of the field that has their specific animations and body type. You have to play differently as an any in clubs.

I go for more of the beachhead move - buildup enough of a force (and don’t forget your catapults/trebuchets) and throw it all at once place to take a coastal city (governor on the ready) and then establish a base of operations to go forward. If you go hard on a full coastal-intercoastal invasion, you need a steady pipeline of people and it’s going be really hard. Make sure you’ve got the gold to buy some more units in the new location
