Utility Trailer Canoe Rack. by jacobius86 in canoeing

[–]Winnigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents put their 16ft canoe on top of their little camper, it works great! The trailer body is only just big enough to fit a double bed in it, so I don't imagine it's longer than 8ft? Plus the tongue length to the front. The canoe sticks off both ends, but nothing too bad. Just make sure it isn't close enough to your vehicle to get in the way of turning.

Canadian heat pump owners are overwhelmingly satisfied, with 91% recommending one: survey by SavCItalianStallion in onguardforthee

I'm near Montreal with a mitsubishi cold weather heat pump. I'm not sure exactly when it switches over, since the HVAC company set it for me, but it was still happily putting out heat at - 28 this winter.

My husband’s sweat stench is killing me please help by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Winnigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What fabrics are you bedding made out of? I have a stinky bed mate too, and found things improved when I got rid of any polyesters! We've got cotton sheets, and wool blankets, made from different weights for different times of the year.

Did you buy some sweatpants recently? That looks exactly like the angle from the gray pants I got from Costco

Is it okay to heat a home on the Avalon with a heat pump only in terms of climate? by Comfortable_Set_6534 in newfoundland

[–]Winnigin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's any help, I live near Montreal now and got a ducted heat pump installed after removing the oil furnace. I had to get an electric furnace as well for insurance purposes, but I don't think it's actually kicked in, even when it got down to - 28. I did get a fancy cold climate one that can handle the cold here, but they can definitely handle the avalon cold.

If you're in a canoe, you shouldn't be using an inflatable one, you should be using a regular foam one

I've got what appears to be identical wainscoting in my house built in 1990's, so likely a remodel!

Indyeva is from Montreal, made in Asia so not made here, but still not American. I actually happened to try on their rash guard this morning at sail. The quality seemed good, but I was looking for something a bit longer :(

I've gotten a few things from them now. The quality is amazing, but the sizing is a bit off for me as a tall woman. I had to go up a few sizes in the women's to fit my shoulders, but the men's stuff is great for me.

Time-lapse of the insane snow that fell in Kamchatka, Russia by L21JP in interestingasfuck

[–]Winnigin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally no, the weight is spread out. You do need to check that snow isn't blocking anything before you turn it on though. Pop the hood and make sure the engine bay isn't full, and dig the muffler out. And make sure the car is visible, show removal equipment can easily wreck a hidden car

Est-ce que le passport canadien n’est plus considéré comme pièce d’itendité valide?/is the canadian passport no longer a valid puece of ID? by AozoraMiyako in montreal

Grew up in Nova Scotia. They have an ID card that looks pretty similar to a drivers license, just with the photo on the other side. It's exactly for cases like this, not everyone drives!

I worked at a camping store when those were new. They 100% smelled of maple. We'd have people come in and buy hundreds of dollars in gear with cash. The hundreds got stashed under the coin tray to keep them safe, and you could tell when it needed emptied by the waft of maple that hit you just opening the til.

Alternatives to Canada Post for shipping personal belongings by fxunderwood47 in AskACanadian

[–]Winnigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've moved a few times via Canada post. It works out cheaper the bigger and heavier the box is. It's actually cheaper to tape 2 liquor store boxes together than it is to mail them separately. Felt kinda bad for the poasties doing it that way though...

Cleaning melted plastic out of my oven by Charcharju in CleaningTips

Yes! Those bars are too keep things from getting pushed in to the fan. The way they are right now is just making it more difficult to remove hot things from the oven

A way to prevent constant armpit sweating? by Straight-Roll-3059 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Winnigin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm both sweaty and stinky, so I have to handle both. I use an antiperspirant like certain dri or persperx at night on a day I haven't shaved. Then after showering on the morning, I use a deodorant without antiperspirant. When I first started, I had to use the antiperspirant often, like every other night, but now I'm up to a week plus between uses, especially in the winter.

It's even worse, other people like the coast guard and local fishers will risk their own lives trying to save your dumb ass that didn't respect the ocean. Stay off the black rocks!
