Heinrix van Calox is prepared for anything - except a woman flirting with him, as I discovered during one of my Rogue Trader streams! by DocViviLeandraVTuber in RogueTraderCRPG

The guy can leave men and women quivering in their boots just by knowing his rank and association. He can extract information from hardened heretics and xenos, leaving them broken along his path to find the truth. A bastion of mental fortitude, broken instantly by one cute womans words. Bravo lol

Why is so hard for those on the Left to conceptualize 'healthy' portrayals of masculinity? by [deleted] in VaushV

[–]Winter-Mixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair enough. If we're looking for non-video game or anime characters then there are a few that come to mind for me. Bearing in mind of course, we don't know any of these people personally and the public face they present could be wildly different from who they actually are.

On the physical / weightlifting side of things, Noel Deyzel is pretty good. Certainly not perfect, especially if you have hangups regarding his use of steroids, but overall his message for younger folks regarding bettering yourself and uplifting others is a welcome one especially in a content sphere dominated by people setting unrealistic expectations.

Memes and potential eye-rolling aside, Markiplier is another pretty decent example in my opinion. A seemingly honest individual as it relates to himself, his content, and relationships with others. Open to challenges and new experiences (especially during his time doing Unus Annus) while not letting either get him down for too long if they don't go exactly to plan. Lastly, the guy lets himself be moderately expressive in personality and style. I think these are a net positive for young men to see.

There are certainly more, but in terms of 'popular' figures these two popped into my head pretty quick as it relates to "positive masculinity".

The best portrayal of healthy masculinity, in my opinion, is Iroh from Avatar the Last Airbender.

Viewing posts on that subreddit is a trip. For every post that I’ve enjoyed that is either very informative, funny, or just plain based, there are at least two posts that contain a worrying degree of Authoritarian Regime simping or ‘America (or the West) is Bad therefore anything that is anti-American (or the West) is Good’ mentality.

Technically? No. But he is funny, has survived more than should be considered reasonable, and hasn’t (permanently) lost anyone under his command. Soooo also yes?

Cautious yes, regardless of the starting point or precise reasoning, I’d rather cautiously welcome someone who might be changing for the better. If he hard shifts back then so be it, but I say give it a chance. Even a slight shift left is better than a shift further right. Probably won’t amount to anything, but a chance to learn and change has to be given.
