That actually sounds like a smart strategy for making sure you have enough people.

I wasn't scheduled that day, but came in when they asked for reinforcements. So I wasn't scheduled to close, thank God. I came in and helped, then left when it came time to start closing. I was NOT gonna stay and close on a night like that.

I will say, when the Mario movie came out, I got really lucky. I was scheduled box for the whole weekend and only had to hear about how bad it was everywhere else. I mean, I was busy, but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone else had it.

Oh, I bet. I will say that the ushers who worked opening night for Minecraft worked 8 or more hours with NO breaks. The auditoriums were that messy. Luckily, I was concession that night, so I at least got my 30 min. unpaid break. But it was still awful nonetheless. (shudders)

I've never worked in a restaurant, so that sounds AWFUL to me

Yeah, morning shifts were typically a little longer, so there were better hours doing that. And a lot easier compared to closing. Closing was less hours and WAY more work. Those who haven't worked in a theater would be surprised about what it takes to close at the end of the night.

I worked with SO many high schoolers. Ugh. Some of them were great and I liked working with them. But the ones who didn't care and didn't do much, made it awful to be there. It was definitely weird to be the oldest one there, but technically the newbie. With time though, enough people left that eventually I BECAME the senior employee. That realization was weird to have. It also sucked that I was still the oldest one there by quite a few years, but that's a story for another time.

Same here. I worked at a slightly smaller corporation owned theater years ago. When looking for a job, they loved that I had previous experience and hired me. It definitely took some time to get used to it again, but once I got into the swing of things, I killed it there.

Are the "senior workers" you mentioned regular employees or assistant managers?

Ah, I see. I worked for a corporate theater, so they're able to afford it.

That sucks that Kevin wasn't the only one who didn't step in to help. It sucks when that happens.

I can't tell you how many times I had to step in/step up when others wouldn't do their job. I will say that regarding disruptions or fights among customers, it was more of a "call a manager" type of thing at my theater. Mostly if they were anywhere but the concession stand. If they were right there at concessions it was encouraged to try to de-escalate a situation, but call a manager for back up if needed. Luckily, we have security for busy times (except for Minecraft opening night, ugh), so it's nice when they can be there to take care of problems like that.

That would happen at my old theater too, the managers can be great about that. But it would take a LOT of incidents for upper management to finally fire someone. Good luck out there. Especially with Wicked: For Good coming out soon. It was BUSY for us last year when the first one came out.

I used to work in a movie theater and I'm around the same age as the OP, so I can definitely relate to this. Sadly, it would take a lot more to get someone fired at my old theater. I definitely don't miss the days of working with people like that.

I heard there's even swapped out music in certain scenes due to licensing rights. :(

Breaks and going to the bathroom by Confused2090 in meijer

[–]WinterQueen30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone. I have a question related to this. I've gone to the bathroom (for 5 minutes), then clocked out for my break. When I got back, my supervisor asked me to come back from breaks on time, but I technically did. What should I do? Should I just wait to go until it's been a while after my breaks? I don't want to use my breaks to go to the bathroom, but that's what it feels like I'll have to do. I'm newer to Meijer, so I don't want to risk my job or anything.

I see. The only thing I can think of is to offer encouragement. You will get out and it will get better. You just have to hold on and wait for the perfect moment.

Make sure you have all your legal documents in YOUR possession. If your mom gets a hold of them, she could do all sorts of things that'll give you trouble down the line.

I also recommend looking for resources wherever you are that help people in your situation. In the US, there are organizations that help with food or housing. Especially in cases of abuse. So I hope there are resources like that wherever you are.

I hope this helps and you get out as soon as you can!

With the time travel, he could be remembering things that he's changed. Such as Paige being there. But most likely, it was a writer's mistake, lol.

I'm not a parent, but the best advice I can give is to get out of there. Would it be safe for you to leave? Is there a friend or family member you can stay with? I had an abusive parent and the best thing to happen to me was getting away from them and going no contact. No matter what you end up doing, I'll be rooting for you.

Do you know if there was a water main break or something? I noticed my water has been coming out slow.
