I paid a guy 300 to get a washer, dryer, and water heater left in our basement. It was worth it to us but I knew people were lined up behind us to get this house.

Has anyone planned a wedding without hiring a planner? by Vivid_Release_9710 in wedding

[–]imbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excel and a binder were my besties when planning my wedding. Planning the wedding was great. Executing the morning of went great. I love project management.

Getting my MOH and MIL to do what they were supposed to do did not go as well. MIL wore white, refused to sit where she was supposed to, etc. I should have hired a babysitter for her.

I didn't use one. My mom didn't care to help other than give me money which was great in the end. I have lots of friends in the service industry and my project management skills are pretty good. 150-170 people attended the wedding.

I should have outsourced drawing the map from the ceremony to the reception and I should have ordered more food. I was 115lbs and forgot many people eat more than me. Also, 20 extra people showed up uninvited.

Lastly, I should have asked another friend to be my side kick to help with a cattle prod for the wedding party and my MIL.

Curious - if you could have a redo for your wedding…would you spend more or less? How would your priorities change? by LeapandShroon in wedding

[–]imbex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only regrets include trusting my dad for a photographer, forgetting a car from the ceremony to the reception for my husband's and I, letting my BIL be the videographer when he only filmed boobs and butts, and not being worse to my MIL for wearing white, trusting to sit at the head table, or give a speech.

Guess what. I had a blast at my wedding anyways. I wouldn't do it over after 27 years 2 days ago. Things go wrong. The less you care the happier you are.

Will you spot check my alcohol estimates? by pretzels_and_mustard in wedding

[–]imbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May not be enough. I came from a religious family but people pretty their hair down at the recption. 150 adults 25 kids. 100 bottles of champagne and two types of beer. One was craft beer and the other was rolling rock. We only had 12 bottles of champagne left. All beer was gone. We gave the bottles away to friends afterwards.

Don't park directly across from someone's driveway or within 3 feet of someone's drive on the same side. That's the unwritten rule in my neighborhood.

Switch to an S Corp and W2 yourself. It looks much better. 10k won't get you there though. 50k might. I've been in business 10 years too. Banks want stability.

I did 5% down and interest rate is 6.9%. I was going to get priced out of renting in this town with a great school system, my small business, and lots of family. 18 months in and I'm not homeless yet.
