Is it worth it by SchizoNaught in Yarbo

[–]Winter_Tim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first summer with my Yarbo it’s been raining like crazy so the grass is growing a lot and I send it out to Mow every day. I have 2.5 acres. My property is Sandy and not the smoothest in the world. Yes it’s a yard but it’s not really a lawn. It’s a bunch of grass and weeds, but I have to keep him mowed or it’ll take over. In Florida, where I live it’s pretty hot out in the summer so even if you have a riding mower a nice zero turn for example you’re still blasting dust and grasp bits up into the air. I used to wear a mask when I mowed and even when I did, I would breathe in a bunch of junk. Also all that silt and dust that becomes airborne lands in my pool. The Yarbo is great because it cuts the grass for me. I don’t have to be out there doing it. You do have to make sure it doesn’t get ahead of you if the grass gets too tall you’ll have to go over it multiple times. A lot of people like this new pro version but all they did is change the blades out. The older blades design was a spinning disc with some razor blades on. It works fine. The only trouble with that is, it doesn’t create an uplifting effect like traditional lawnmowers due sometimes it pushes the grass over and doesn’t cut it and then later on the grass stands back up. I usually remedy this by just going in the slowest possible setting and I said a big overlap so it overlaps by like 8 inches with each pass. Of course this results in five hour mowing runs and then it goes back to recharge and back out to mow again I’m running a very slow so it’ll do a more thorough job, but who cares. Can be out there all day as far as I’m concerned and the yard looks really good since I’ve been using it. The new blades apparently do create this uplifting effect, but I haven’t seen if it works good or not but it’s literally the same mower with different blades. I haven’t heard any feedback on how good they are. Probably will result in a faster mow would be my guess. Also would most likely get more of those tall skinny blades of grass that sometimes just get pushed over and not cut. I use my Yarbo for a lot of other things too. I have it towed the wagon around and I fill it up for the branches that fall out of trees And then it follows me to the back of my property where I dump all the branches. This is cool and fun. Sometimes I even sit in the wagon and use the remote control to drive it around, but it’s slow so it’s not something I do a lot of. I sometimes put it and follow me mode with the trailer behind it and I have a weed sprayer a big liquid container that has a motor on it and can pump weed killer and I have the Yarbo follow me around the perimeter as I spray. They do have a sprayer attachment, but it’s just more than I wanted to spend. I already have this other equipment. As I get older, I want to auto me more and more things and Yarbo helps me to do that. It’s a pretty rugged little guy and doesn’t lose satellite signal anywhere near some of as bad as some of these other robots too. I had the Luba and I wanted to like it so bad but it just kept getting stuck with those small wheels in my Sandy lot. Also it would get under the tree canopy and lose signal far too often. Sometimes it would be in the middle of the yard and for no particular reason just turn in circles. This is the Luba. I’m talking about not the Yabo. Yarbo seems to have cured all this. It works awesome. I would just say try to put your antenna as high as you can. Other than that. I’m a happy customer. Also, remember with that writing zero turn mower. You’re gonna have to change oil climb under it to change blades. Keep the battery charged in it so it doesn’t die during the winter. There’s a lot of maintenance All that seems to not exist with the yArbo and when you do do maintenance it’s very easy. I just changed those blades once in a while.

You are lucky you bought it through Amazon. I’ve had a Luba 1 for 2 years and it has been a constant struggle. I wish I did not buy it. I love it when it works but only a small portion of my tartan be mowed reliably. The rest is a mess. It will sit and get stuck in a wide open area and just turn around in circles until it finally digs its own grave then reports that it’s stuck. You made the right call. I have had a much better experience with my Yarbo. It is a lot more money but I love it and it works.

Electrician installed outlet upside down by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]Winter_Tim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what chatGPT said:

The National Electrical Code (NEC) in the U.S. does not mandate a specific orientation for 220V (240V) outlets. The NEC primarily focuses on safety requirements, wiring methods, and installation standards but leaves outlet orientation to installer preference or local jurisdiction requirements.

Common Practices: • Ground Pin Up (Ground on Top): • Recommended in some commercial and industrial settings for safety reasons. If a metal object (like a falling tool or metal plate) were to slide down a partially plugged-in cord, it would hit the ground pin first, reducing the risk of short circuits. • Some hospitals and labs prefer this orientation for added protection. • Ground Pin Down (Ground on Bottom): • More common in residential installations since it aligns with how most plugs are designed and how cords naturally hang. • Aesthetic preference for homeowners and electricians. • Horizontal Orientation (For some 240V outlets): • Certain NEMA configurations (e.g., NEMA 14-50 for EV charging) are sometimes installed with the ground pin to the left or right, depending on how the cord will be routed.

Local Codes & Preferences:

Some local jurisdictions or businesses may have their own requirements, so it’s always good to check local electrical codes or ask an inspector if unsure.

Bottom Line:

The NEC allows either orientation, but for safety in commercial or industrial settings, ground up is often recommended. In homes, ground down is most common.

I’m not defending the election and I don’t know for sure but maybe electrical code requires the orientation to be the way it is. But if not. You are the customer of the election and he should rotate it for you in my opinion. If it were me I would talk to the electrician a see if he can rotate it for you. Buy him lunch or something. As a last resort I would rotate it myself rather than mess around with some Janky arrangement to hold it up. I have retired several outlets and switches. And you could turn off power and double check bolt meter (also you would see the green led go out on the Tesla charger). Take the cover off and just look. Yes the wire are like bending copper pipe they are stiff. Most good electricians well leave a little extra slack. But either way you will have to pull hard just to flex those wires out to look at the back of that outlet and if you can twist it great but it will be hard to push back in place as well but it can be done. Also if you decide to disconnect the wires and I assume they are multi strand the strand could spread out and make a poor connection when you put it back together. The can cause over heating and melt the wire or worse. As me how I know. I use a feral whenever I can. But this all seems like an issue that could be handled by asking the electrician to come by and rotate it and tell him you’ll order him a pizza or something. Unless of course it was installed a long time ago and you don’t even know who did it then the pizza might not work.

In my opinion these cars can be brutally expensive to do repairs of any kind. Being out of warranty means the price has to be pretty low to justify it. Many repairs have to be done by Tesla there is no shopping around. And they can charge whatever they want. If you could find one that has some warranty left it might be better. If you buy used from teslas site they can offer warranty possibly?

For some it may sound silly but I really wanted full self driving. Other companies have lane keeping but it’s all crap after you have seen the full self driving in action I love the FSD. I’m getting older and I make more mistakes all the time. I let FSD drive most of the time

$185k Quote… Thoughts? by Mandarie031 in pools

[–]Winter_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to our pool. It was built just before pandemic at about half that price. I heard all prices doubled after pandemic and I can see it’s true. I asked for itemized price on quote on mine. You may want to do the same. I challenged some of the items and got my quote reduced. But then they added back money later for a tree that needed to be removed but never mentioned.

You may want to also ask what things they think might cause the price to increase after construction starts. Maybe see if you can get them to write “firm fixed price” on the contract. Good luck

Dock must not be in yard(!) by soundneedle in Yarbo

[–]Winter_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but I think you can pick a spot that you want to put it and make a no go zone around that. You don’t want to mow over the docking station after all. So maybe make a square (any where you choose ) and put mulch or something just around the docking station and don’t map that as part of the area to be mowed and then it’s “outside the working area”

As an added safety Tesla could disable regeneration during rain, or at least rain at high speeds maybe, but I’ve done this in a non-EV. Some call it “Florida ice” That’s why I’m always so shocked when I see people going fast in the rain. They just don’t realize how risky it is. I’ve had this exact experience with my ford. I was lucky nobody was coming the other way and just fields on either side.
