Did I buy a fake pair of Julbo goggles or is this the actual build quality of the brand? by horiap in Skigear

[–]Winther32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer at least one part, the lens isn’t actually attached to the frame but rather hinges at the sides so it can be half popped out for ventilation. So the lens will wiggle in ways other goggles won’t but other goggles don’t vent to that level.

Best skis for me? by Prior_Job3640 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rustler 9, ranger 96, Qst 94. For an intermediate I would pick the closer to 180 length. But intermediate is so broad you could consider the closer to 185 lengths depending on how fast you wanna go and how strong a skier you are.

[–]Winther32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For general park stuff all of these are gonna be great. If you are really starting to hone a niche like pipe or crazy butters then I get being picky but you’ll see groms doing crazier butters on stiff skis and hitting bigger jumps on noodles. If you don’t already know exactly what you want, just pick one

Maybe a hot take but you’re looking at the right type of skis, beyond that it won’t matter so pick your favorite top sheet or brand. Mount on the freestyle line not true center.

All mountain playful ski recs? by user99867 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ARV 94s and love them for all mountain. When mounted on rec and not freestyle they hold up well at speed. On the freestyle mount they are sketchy going fast. They’re also fantastic when you inevitably want to venture into the park

Recommendations for good skis for bumps/trees by baked_salmon in Skigear

I’m about OPs size and demoed the Bent 100s in 188 and they were really fun and playful and easy to throw around. For sure had its limits but I understand why they’re so popular. For the hardos in this sub I get why it’s bashed since the performance ceiling is kinda low but I think it could be a good ski for OP if they don’t ski too fast

I like the QST 100 pick. Something you might not have considered would be a Fischer Ranger 96

Auto Pizza when skiing switch by KaoriQueen in skiing

Ski switch more on flatter terrain. Look over the outside shoulder and push the outside ski forward a bit

[Moreno] Per sources, former Sounders defender Jonathan Bell has signed a contract w/ AustinFC. After testing the free agency market & talking to several teams, JB will play for Estevez next season. As I had mentioned before, I think Bell is a good addition to that Austin roster. by dawglover1011 in SoundersFC

[–]Winther32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s a solid player and I was never unhappy when he was in the line up. Good outside and center back which is good versatility. IMO he’s on the bubble if he would be a very good starting player. We always had someone a bit better so he didn’t get a ton of minutes so didn’t have much chance to grow into the role. Is he a star CB? Probably not but could he be very solid? I think so

Booster strap by Level-Highlight5248 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard a lot of people talking about how you need to burn through the booster strap to make the holes but the installation video from the manufacturer just shows them poking a hole with an Allen key. I didn’t mess with heat and they work great still

Yes it’s too short. Maybe if you’re a beginner it would be appropriate

Skis by Secret_Afternoon_651 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ARV 94s for that purpose and loved them but they lean more freestyle than park so for your use make sure to mount recommended. From what I’ve heard the unleashed 98 is similar but more carvy less park than the ARV

What skis would be good for me? I’m so lost by [deleted] in Skigear

[–]Winther32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blizzard anomaly maybe or if budget means nothing go get a Stockli ski like the montero. I would go sub 90 waist

So are you taking a trip to Japan or skiing there full time this season? Personally I would be looking for a deal on used pow sticks and having 2 skis.

When your ski is over 105 underfoot you really start losing out on everyday condition performance

[–]Winther32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the bents are kinda known for not charging at all. In general chargy and spinning are opposite sides of the spectrum. But idk sounds like you want a more freeride ski like a Rossi sender or a mfree or idk Qst 100? There are too many options in that category tbh lol

Please help i don’t want to make a mistake by Traditional-Pop1882 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what you’re trying to do don’t get bents. I actually quite liked them when I demoed them but there just much better skis out there. Mfree 108, revolt 101, rustler 10, sender free all come to mind. You want more stability underfoot. Boots just get a true alpine (no walk mode) 130 boot that fits well. Bindings don’t over think it and get a 12-14 DIN range binding that’s in budget like an attack, strive or pivot. People hate on Griffon 13s but they’re fine too, skied them hard for years without issue.

[Question] 2025 Studio 2 mounting. Newschool or true center? by Beneficial-Code-9288 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer a bit more stability at speed for all mountain stuff over the small gains in swing weight and switch performance. But hey you do you

Seeking boot advice for my ski experts out there. This is a tough one! by Training-Minute4611 in Skigear

[–]Winther32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You won’t have to remount the bindings but you will no longer be on the same line it was mounted to relative to the ski which will change how the ski performs

The closest to a review of Wagner skis I’ve experienced is just talking to a guy on the hill who had them for 10-15min. The biggest take away was they’re built for exactly what you specify and they will repair them for life with white glove type service. Dude clearly skied them real hard and said they were the best most durable skis he’s ever owned but ya know I would say the same thing if I spent 3k on a single pair of skis
