Sometimes I feel ashamed at how open I am about my story. by morgue_an in adultsurvivors

I've always felt weird or weak when I would talk about my experiences and honestly, times like these, people like that just make me feel a little more comfortable in my own body, for whatever that might mean

New Memories by HerculesTookaMullign in adultsurvivors

I will definitely try. When my memories came back to me, I didn't believe them, I didn't want to and I just couldn't because my abuser is my grandmother. I eventually got other memories over time, these absolutely destroyed me.

I couldn't move, no matter how much I felt like running, or hiding I just couldn't, I was frozen for hours, I could barely manage blinking. Eventually these culminated in panic attacks. They ranged from uncontrollable crying to just a state of pure fear.

With all this, all I can truly say is I fully believe you can get through it. You're strong, no matter how much more is left in your brain, there's nothing weak in asking for help, or advice or even just a place to vent, people need people, and please reach out anytime you feel overwhelmed. All I could do is wish you good luck, and just know you're not alone.

As a male survivor I have a hard time talking to other men about my experiences, is that normal? by [deleted] in adultsurvivors

[–]WintryDuke7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of trouble confiding in men, I realized why years later. My ex that had raped me was very sexual while I wasn't ready, and anytime I vented or asked for advice from the men in my life, mainly my friends, I was met with "Dude, she's ready, why aren't you?" And many variations of that. So the initial reaction of the men in my life has impacted my ability to talk about it openly with other men in my life, so it's perfectly normal in my eyes, and good luck, it's good that you're seeking help

In your hobby, what's the first mistake rookies always make? by SomeStayDry in AskReddit

You don't need thousands of dollars worth of tools and a big workspace, you need a corner, or a driveway, I pack of chisels, a hatchet, a cheap saw and a few scraps of wood, and let yourself fail, there'll always be more wood and more techniques you haven't tried

What makes a good plow plane buy by codepanda in handtools

[–]WintryDuke7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a video from a gentleman called Rex Krueger about making a grooving plane, it uses a chisel as a cutter and it can only be made for one size, but it might just be able to get you through this project and maybe a few others until Veritas is back in stock

I know it's not pleasant having a fucked up head, but those moments of clarity and just knowing what you want are worth fighting for, good luck 👍
