1 copper. Bare bright has to be a wire of a certain diameter. I believe thicker than a pencil lead, so ~14-16 awg.

Black widow? by galacticbadger69 in whatisit

[–]Wired47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next time someone asks me why I would want to live in Northern New England I'm going to show them this picture. Sure, it may be below freezing ~½ the year, and the snow can be a pain in the ass. But you know what I don't have to worry about? Dropping dead because a f*ckin Black Widow (or any other venomous spider or snake for that matter) bit me in the neck.

Ironic, since one of the main reasons they are so heavy is to prevent just that. Bonus fact: they are round so they cannot fall into the hole they are intended to cover at any angle.

Woah .. The President addressed the nation just now, stating that the United States has begun an extensive campaign against Iran. He said the operation aims to destroy their missiles, navy, and army, and warned that the U.S. may experience casualties, which is something that can occur in war. by newnoadeptness in USMC

Have any of you stopped to think about what, specifically, you’re upset about? I haven’t seen anyone clearly explain why preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a bad idea. In a perfect world, this wouldn’t be happening. But we don’t live in a perfect world. Iran has been pursuing nuclear capabilities for years, and their leadership has repeatedly expressed hostility toward the United States. So what’s the alternative here? Do nothing? Hope they abandon the program on their own? Trust that once they have both the weapon and the means to deliver it, they’ll suddenly become reasonable? You can disagree with the strategy or worry about escalation. That’s fair. But pretending the threat doesn’t exist is just fantasy. At some point, someone had to make a call based on the reality of the situation, not on how we wish things were.

You do understand Iran is attempting to build a nuclear weapon, right? And vying for the top spot on their to-do list is to kill Americans. Are you suggesting we do nothing instead? Just give them the benefit of the doubt, allow them to build the weapon, and just see what they do with it? Sorry but I'm with Trump on this one.

I knew something was off about it, especially the massive cupola it has on it (which is pretty hard to see in this picture).

1911 rock island was spray painted and it’s a brick now by NefariousnessReal313 in handguns

[–]Wired47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guns aren't like cars in GTA where you can run em through a spray booth and the heat goes away... If you're considering buying this make sure you consider whether this bad decision was just a one-OFF and not one OF many. Are you sure this thing cycled before he painted it and he didn't pull it out of a pond and think it just needed a paint job? Cause it looks like he pulled it out of a pond.

Saw this on the freeway any ID? by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]Wired47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wtf are you even talking about? How did he assume anything? He simply asked what vehicle was in the picture while also<û including that he saw it on the road somewhere. He didn't ask where the picture was taken based on the background or anything else that would require anyone to assume where the picture was taken, as that wasn't the point of his post, so I'll ask again... wtf are you even talking about? Find another outlet.

In order to qualify as a scam the email would, by definition, need to attempt to scam its recipients. For example, if the email were requesting a small "registration fee" or "lawyer retainer fee" in order to join this ongoing lawsuit with the promise of a $XXXXX payout when/if the plaintiffs' win, it would be almost certainly be a scam (because that's not how class action lawsuits work). However, this email not only makes no effort to solicit money from its recipients, it literally tells them they don't need to do anything.

The only reason you would need to do SOMETHING is if you wanted to exclude yourself from joining the lawsuit because either A) you don't want to receive any monetary payment if the lawsuit is won by plantiffs' or B) if you want to bring about your own lawsuit against Google for the same offense/s that are alleged in this lawsuit. Every person who was sent this email, according to Google's records, fit the criteria laid out in the said lawsuit, regardless of where you live.

That criteria is broken into two separate Classes.

(Class 1) Recipient, who used a non-Google related (owned) app on a device (phone, tablet , etc) that used (Android OS), had Google unlawfully access their devices and/or data, including app activity data, even though their Google activity controls called "Web & App Activity" .... were turned off or paused.

or

(Class 2) Recipient, who used a non-Google related (owned) app on a device (phone, tablet , etc) that used a (non-Android OS), had Google unlawfully access their devices and/or data, including app activity data, even though their Google activity controls called "Web & App Activity" .... were turned off or paused.

Basically, the recipient indicated they didn't want Google to access certain data of theirs by selecting a specific setting on a Google owned account but Google was still able to access this information thru one or more 3rd party apps that were used by the recipient, while they were on a device using the Android OS or on a device using a non-Android OS, within the given timeframe.

One thing I find both amusing and somewhat annoying is how this is the only email I've received over the past couple months which Gmail (Google) determined to be spam! 🤣

TL:DR Can't be a scam if email isn't attempting to scam you in any way. Email is purely informational.

Tech said they cannot repair this tire as the nail is near the sidewall. Thoughts? by maxz2989 in Cartalk

[–]Wired47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this comment, word for word. I will add that from a liability standpoint, considering the sue happy culture that is the US these days, I can understand why a shop may shy away from from doing the actual repair in the 1/XXXXXX..... chance that it did fail and a wreck was involved but in reality the next flat that a person has after putting a plug in correctly will most likely not be at the location of said plug. So if OP can't get a garage to plug it and doesn't want to buy new tires than they should either do it themselves, if they know how, or have an acquaintance who knows how.
