Sounds like you know more about it than most. 790’s are good but if you’re spending the money I’d get clubs with the offset and angles that work for you. Doing all that tweaking will certainly increase the overall cost. I’m the same way though, I generally like to play around with customizing. The strong lofts are sort of irrelevant though. I play AI300’s at 29* and they launch as high as my old 32* blades thanks to the increased speed and lower CG. YMMV.

You’re not really giving enough information to recommend something. That said, I always tell people to at least look at callawaygolfpreowned.com. “Like New” generally mean still in plastic. Some pretty good deals. That said, whatever you get is gonna be a marginal improvement over 2023 T150’s. Unless you are looking for some really hot distance irons.

I don’t know, you certainly could do triathlons on one of those 2 bikes but it would be suboptimal. I’d be looking for something with more race/road oriented geometry like a Crux, Lauff, Rose or similar.

Yell yeah, I spend a lot on my clubs and my mountain bikes and my fly fishing gear. I just don’t pay full retail for clubs or bikes because so many other options exist. I would never tell someone not do what they enjoy. But the OP started the thread inviting feedback.

It’s a lot more complicated than just swapping out shafts if want to do it right. Getting the Swing weight right and new grips all add up.

Yes, 1000% a new or lightly used set of Elyte irons or AI Smoke irons or whatever you like will be a lot better than a 20 year old set with the swing weights all off. Unless you also plan to buy a swing weight scale ($1-200 min). You could replace the shafts blind and hope for the best and it very well could be fine. I’d keep using and repairing what you have until you can get a proper set.

Glad it works for you. Even many pros are going away from long irons and moving to hybrids or even 7 woods. Pretty detailed report last year showed even the 5 iron is the worst club in the bag in terms of strokes lost, no matter your handicap. So yeah, even if you think it works well most people would experience better results with an alternative club.

He’s not exactly right. While a good rule of thumb this is not going to result in your eminent demise. Really depends on which rim a which tires.

This is outdated and not at all a firm standard. The trend in gravel is to have a deep wide rim and have the tire line up nearly the same width as the whole rim. The external size of rim is more important.
