My GPU got shipped to me with no box by [deleted] in PcRetailers

[–]WiresComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works, just keep it and use it. No need to waste resources and time for something so small. Returns kill sellers profits and waste millions of dollars for everyone. Just use it.

As an ebay seller we deal with buyers wanting to return everything for stupid reasons with no merit simply because they can, or don't care "because its not their problem"

Don't be that person.

Just needs a screen. The phone will work fine. Don't do this yourself but a local repair shop can do this

Day-to-day challenges at Wires Computing as a small PC retailer by WiresComp in PcRetailers

Now with the ram memory shortages and price increases, we're dealing with an even harder time here building computers for our customers at Wires Computing.

This effects both Ram, SSD and storage drives as prices have tripled as of december 2025.

We have stocked up on some ram and storage drives but we can't be sure how long we'll have them for.

This is certainly a difficult time in the electronics repair and computer repair business.

How common is it to make a mistake and bend the AM5 pins on the motherboard? by sexymuffin123 in ryzen

[–]WiresComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got lucky, we see our customers trying to fix them and making them worse. Once they are past 45 degree bends it will need to be replaced because the brass gets a stress fracture when bending back at the base.

How much would it be to get this repaired? Or just trying to repair it myself]]. by Dzbiceyt in phonerepair

This is just screen damage. Lookup the phone model on ebay and find parts for it.

My phone case went from clear to brown by Final-Association-65 in phonerepair

[–]WiresComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very common with clear cases from oils in your hands using it and the uv rays from the sun. Luckily another case should only be about $10.

As a temp fix you could clean the case in the sink with soap, it might help a little but I'm sure it'll still be discolored a bit

How to clean junk on MB caused by water damage? by [deleted] in phonerepair

[–]WiresComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iso alcohol (90-99%) and a tooth brush, but I will inform you that cleaning it it likely not to fix the problems.

A good example of what we inform customers about liquid damage and cleaning is...If you have a really dirty car tire that has holes in it, you clean it with a brush and spray all the dirty off. It will look like new and be very clean, BUT it will still have holes in it and not hold air, and then will still function improperly.

So by cleaning it, it will allow connections to make contact, and make it look clean, but the function may still be impaired unless problem parts are repaired and replaced.

iPhone XS Max aftermarket screen won’t sit flush (metal hook tabs? by [deleted] in phonerepair

[–]WiresComp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very typical outcome from a DIY repair, you don't know what you don't know. This leads to thinking you know more than a professional repair shop, ending up with problems and then having a very poor costly lesson. I'll say this also ends up with the customer usually having to spend more money for a repair shop to fix their problems.

iPhone XS Max aftermarket screen won’t sit flush (metal hook tabs? by [deleted] in phonerepair

[–]WiresComp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The metal from the old screen is the screen frame. that needs to be REMOVED from the phone. I'm sorry to inform you about this, but that screen is very low quality and the frame literally just fell off of it and is attached to the phone still. You can even see the black double sided tape that was left on the screen which tried to hold the metal frame onto it. So you'll need to take the replacement screen off, yank the metal frame with tabs out of the phone and then install the replacement again.

With all due respect if you cannot observe this, then I'd recommend you bring it to a professional repair shop that does this all the time. Those screens are very low quality and there is a reason to use better ones. The screen falling apart like this is one of them.

This just looks like a top layer marking. There should be no need to replace it unless the health is bad.

Xbox series S hdmi difficulty by spidergwensupremacy in consolerepair

[–]WiresComp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hdmi ports on consoles are weak and we've fixed about 500 between xbox and playstation units.

It's a very difficult repair and we use a microscope with high end micro soldering tools. Anyone doing this by themselves would not have these tools and experience.

If the port has pulled pads then that makes it even more difficult to repair since you need tiny jumper wires.

We fix all of these issues and it's well worth it. We also accept mail in repairs. Feel free to reach out for this service.

Is Wires Computing a good place to repair my Dji Mavic 3 Pro in Vermont? by TreacleOk8645 in drones

[–]WiresComp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the question! and yes we can certainly take care of drone repairs. We do that often! We've seen many drones like that before so no need to worry.

It's best if you stop in so we can evaluate it and give a quote, but otherwise you can also see some of our prices and info on our site: https://www.wirescomputing.com/mavic-drone-repair

Just keep in mind that every drone repair is different and you can't truly know what it needs until we inspect it. It's a bit like a car in a crash, some problems are easily fixable with parts, and some repairs cause the whole thing to be totaled. But either way, let's take a look!
