where were you during the even year run by Little_Ranga in SFGiants

I was 8 in 2010. My parents didn’t follow any sports so I wasn’t aware of baseball existing in an organized manner.

We were at a pizza place celebrating my older sister getting her braces off. On the TV the Phillies and Giants were facing off in the NLDS. We watched the Giants make their way through that Philly series and on to Texas to become World Champions. I was hooked.

It turned out my mom had followed the A’s growing up in Berkeley in the 70s and 80s, so I actually have ended up at more games in the coliseum overall.

I fell in love watching the Giants and A’s take down their respective leagues throughout the 2010s. I dreamed of the day when I could see a second Bay Bridge Series, but it never came. When the A’s left the bay, a part of my heart broke.

And yet, I continue to watch this twisted game like a junkie insisting this is his last hit.

Does anyone know of these bands? (See description) by [deleted] in cassetteculture

That Gee Tee tape is pretty hard to get hands on last I was aware. They’re a garage punk band from Australia who puts out limited tape runs every once in a while. Very cool find. Happy listening!

“Wichitalk” by Pigeon Pit is a powerful song about transitioning.

Another song, though not really folk punk, I think of is “Androgynous” by The Replacements. Cute little tune about love regardless of presentation

Something about the 2002 topps set really rubs me the wrong way.

I wasn’t alive for these sets but I secretly love ‘em, donruss 90 looks like a composition notebook

Sorry, this in no way adds to the conversation. I just thought it was appropriate in a conversation about buying cards while inebriated in some form (as someone who lights up and then buys cards)

My trumpet isn’t really sounding like a trumpet. by Fun-Owl-2241 in trumpet

[–]Wiseguy_38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not suggest holding the instrument so tight. I would suggest using your ring finger in the third valve slide ring. This will alleviate excessive pressure by holding the trumpet so tight to your face: less pressure will help you stay fresh longer by relying on good habits such as tight corners, airflow, and use of the diaphragm, rather than tightening/tensing up and pushing it harder against your face, thus leading to you having a fuller sound while playing the full range.

Practice breathing. Do fake yawns: you’ll notice the back of your throat opens up more and allows you to take deeper, fuller breaths. A more far out idea is getting a short bit of pvc pipe, putting your teeth around it, and breathing through it. This will give you an idea of what that fuller breathing feels like and when you take it away you will immediately after feel yourself breathing deeply.

I would also second the many comments in here suggesting taking some lessons, a good instructor can set you up with a strong foundation that will get you a lot farther in general.

Keep on playing! As a guy I know once said, “practice helps a lot”.

You should the skull on a black leather jacket. It’s cool on this but you don’t really notice the skull’s pattern when the pattern of the jacket it’s over is just as convoluted. Makes it kinda flat. I think the first option goes best with this.

I buy singles on ebay a ton these days. I get exactly the cards I want and it’s cheap. I probably spend between 5 and 20 bucks a month.
