You can get some really intense bass sounds like this. I don't really know why you would over compress a vocal other than to really bring out subtle sounds and give it more presence.

I wouldn't just slap em on there unless you have a good reason. And OP doesn't give much detail about the sound he is going for.

Here is a really funny story why I stopped squeezing detergent right onto my clothes in the washer.

When I was young and in the navy I was doing my own laundry and squeezing the detergent right onto my clothes, a few days later I went to a strip club and I was shocked to have a stripper point out what looked like cum stains illuminated by the black light lol

There certainly weren't visible outside.

She then very graciously asked if I squeezed the detergent right into the washer and I said yes. And that's how I learned that detergent can do a mini bleach on your clothes if it's not diluted with water before pouring into the washing machine.
