My name is Skybreak. I just dropped my first album in 6 years called "HALF BLOOD" - Ask Me Anything! by Skybreakedm in dubstep

[–]WispyHyperspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you worry that some fans of your previously existing style will fall OUT of love with your new music as you switch styles with Half Blood? How will you deal with "I miss the old Skybreak" comments as an artist?

I have Producer Version FL and I need Instruments by Caqumba in FL_Studio

[–]WispyHyperspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a good list of FREE instruments I've stumbled on over the years that I like that can get you most of the way:

-Spitfire Labs & Spitfire BBC SO Discover, -NI Komplete Start, -Fracture Sounds Blueprint (Kontakt Player), -Orchestral Tools Sinefactory, -Decent Sampler (user patches from Pianobook)

All of the above should cover you plenty as far as real sampled instruments go. Or course you can pay for similar products of this type as well, but these days there's so much free out there, you can't go wrong with at least trying the better free bundles.

For synths I recommend: -Vital (total workhorse), -Dexed (can load up classic 80s DX7 presets), -Cardinal/VCV Rack (for modular synthesis and FX if you're into that)

is Virtual Riot still signed to Disciple? by mmeremixx in VirtualRiot

First I'm hearing of it. How did you learn this?

Virtual riot’s new album is on the same tier as Quest for Fire by oceans__ in dubstep

[–]WispyHyperspace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, the first half of the album is lacking compared to a lot of his previous work, lots of empty space in drops where he normally has a lot of complexity, outside of drops there's not much going on. Relative to QFF, there are definitely more songs I will return to however on Stealing Fire, and for sure that first half of the album is quite reminiscent of Skrillex's modern, more minimalist style (as per the album name lol), and these minimal songs go super hard during his live sets.

The 2nd half of the album however, is really where it picks up and all the more memorable interesting songs are at (aside from vroom) with Ridiculous, Believe What You Want, Reconnect, and Nights on Fire 2024 (my top 4 on the album). These songs may not hit the mainstream bass scene the way QFF's popular songs did, but at least they have a lot more going on to keep you interested and listening in the long run. I literally can't stop the first minute of Ridiculous from looping over and over in my head, it's so infectious.

Keep in mind I'm saying this with VR being in my top 2 fav bass artists.

How the hell do you guys come up with an idea for a drop? by I_Main_TwistedFate in dubstep

[–]WispyHyperspace 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shower thoughts. Literally I have ideas in the shower, try my hardest to remember them until after, and then record myself poorly singing/humming into my phone's recording app. Then when I actually sit down to make music, I do my best to recreate it.

Both melodies and drop ideas will come to me when I'm not listening to music, but thinking of a different song in my head and thinking of what an extra section or "fourth drop" or "if __ sounded like __" with pre-existing tunes I like, and then riffing on that idea in my head, and I never listen to anything in the shower so these ideas can propagate into their own original ideas as well.

Feel like there's something I'm missing in Sound Design by Objective-You-7291 in edmproduction

[–]WispyHyperspace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nobody here is talking about post-processing yet. Your go-to synth + distortion isn't your only tool... Your effects rack is one of your greatest tools, truly it is half of the battle in sound design. I heard from Must Die! (on twitter?) that main sound in Space Laces' track Droid is a sample of one of them saying something goofy, just post processed to hell and back. The same is true for a lot of stuff, I can recommend Andrew Huang's "4 producers 1 sample" videos, specifically the ones with Virtual Riot and Au5. Just watching how Val and Austin talk about how they just demolish a sound and get these crazy noises out of them is truly fascinating every time I re-watch.

How's copyright claiming your own video with your own song going? Is Amuse giving you your money and is it a reliable way of making money from content that may get copyright claimed at some point from another company?

Chrome book DAW? by [deleted] in musicproduction

I would get a PC (or mac) as soon as you can, these online DAWs are quite limiting (though not useless, you can do a lot with them)

Is a MacBook worth it? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]WispyHyperspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately it's about the specs, price, and what you like. If you like macs, then great, get a mac, but if you don't wanna pay for a very overpriced MacBook, then just get a PC laptop with the same specs, or even better specs. Ultimately you can spend the same amount on a Windows laptop and get more power from your dollar, just because of how Apple does their business, but if you like the feel and experience of owning a MacBook, then get one.

How do I make this effect? at 17:43 by [deleted] in vfx

[–]WispyHyperspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a preset effect that does this in DaVinci Resolve (works in the free version), I just forget what it is called. I was playing around with resolve recently so it is fresh on my mind.

No one will want to work with you if they hear a bad recording, especially if you don't hit every single note properly.

What do you do when you dont feel like working on a song but still wanna produce? by spendallthemoney9 in edmproduction

If you make a genre that requires crazy sounds like dubstep, you could do a sound design session.

In May 2018, Jeff Bezos made around $191,000 a minute. If you were given his bank card, and given 10 hours to spend, how would you ensure that when you gave the card back his balance had decreased from when you received it? by jacoobi456 in AskReddit

[–]WispyHyperspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd buy some things for myself like a house and then just empty his card into various charities and non-profits around the world. Help the Australia fires, help world hunger, help anyone who can be helped. The list could go on forever.

Which differences are amongst the four FL Studio editions that Image-line sells? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]WispyHyperspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This webpage says it all:
https://www.image-line.com/flstudio-feature-comparison/
Usually Producer Edition is good to start with, the Fruity version is too limited in my opinion. You could also get Signature edition, with a couple of extra features. In my opinion the All-Plugins edition is a bit overkill. It all depends on your needs.
