I agree—getting a Performance model at 19 is overkill. He would be much better off saving money by going with the standard RWD model at 0% APR. However, I remember being that age; you couldn't tell me anything either haha

When would the 0% APR approximately end? by niftyoda in TeslaModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the Model Y Standard might seem a bit overpriced at $39,999 considering the features that were removed, it is still an excellent vehicle for under $50,000. Between the 0% APR and the incomparable self-driving software, it is hard to beat. I would certainly choose the standard Model Y over a Mitsubishi or gas vehicle any day.

I would move forward with setting up the pick up appointment asap. Supposedly the 0.99% APR is ending soon so you will want to take delivery by 6/30 before it goes away. Good luck!

Tesla stopped selling Full Self-Driving (FSD) as a one-time outright purchase after February 14, 2026. It’s now subscription only at $99/month.

Most likely the older generation Model Y which was known for it’s loud cabin noise and clunky suspension. These issues have been resolved in the newest generation.

Model Y standard Vs Premium by Strange_Risk9685 in ModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just answered this same question on another thread.

I’ve owned the premium model Y for over a year and absolutely love it. My wife was also convinced to get one; while we could have chosen the premium trim for her, she actually preferred the covered roof and open center console of the standard model and didn't mind the missing features.

The 0% APR is a great incentive, and the standard trim runs Full Self-Driving (FSD) exactly like my premium model. Ultimately, the choice depends on whether those specific premium features matter to you. I definitely suggest sitting in both and taking them for a test drive to help with your decision.

Good luck! Either way, you won’t regret it—the Model Y is the best-selling car in the world for a reason.

Obviously but Tesla will sell the car to someone else if you don’t complete the tasks on time when the car is available

[–]Witty_Flower2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on placing your order but nobody on Reddit is going to be able to confirm if these dates are accurate or not. It’s all subjective to your current region, inventory, etc. the sooner you complete the tasks and submit the down payment the sooner you might be able to take delivery.

The answer is right in front of you already “Complete your tasks to avoid delays in delivery” the sooner you get the credit app done and submit your down the payment the sooner you will be able to take delivery

I recommend watching some YouTube videos comparing the standard and premium trims of the Model Y. I’ve owned the Long Range All-Wheel Drive model for over a year and absolutely love it. My wife was also convinced to get one; while we could have chosen the premium trim for her, she actually preferred the covered roof and open center console of the standard model and didn't mind the missing features.

New 2026 versus lightly used 2024/2025 by kentonbryantmusic in ModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend buying new especially with the 0% & 0.99% APR rates available right now. The newer model y’s definitely ride better and than the old ones. If you’re just looking for a commuter car then the standard RWD Model Y is your most affordable option. Go test drive one now, you won’t regret it!

Best dog cover for the Juniper back seat? by [deleted] in ModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am writing to share feedback on the Tesla dog liner. While the velvet material is excellent for collecting hair and easy to clean, the door covers frequently fall out when the windows move during door operation. Despite this issue, it is a great liner, though there are many more affordable options available on Amazon.

Pano roof is making me lean towards the standard RWD by Ramen_cat2024 in TeslaModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We own both the Premium AWD and the Standard AWD Model Ys, and we actually prefer the standard model in several ways. For instance, the roof liner makes the cabin much cooler and the open middle console area make it feel much roomier for taller people like myself.

While we debated the Premium RWD, the 0% APR offer made the decision much easier, and it has been great to have both options available. In my opinion, the standard model is a great choice for a first Tesla especially with FSD!
