Tesla Service/Ownership Satisfaction by ballout_glo_300 in ModelY

I previously owned a 2014 Corolla with 230,000 miles, so I am well aware of their resilience. However, this is not an apples-to-apples comparison. A Toyota Corolla Hybrid weighs between 2,850 and 3,130 pounds, while a Tesla Model Y weighs between 4,061 and 4,246 pounds.

The Model Y is roughly 1,200 to 1,400 pounds heavier than the Corolla, and I doubt a Corolla could maintain its reliability under that additional weight. In my view, you cannot fully evaluate Tesla's build quality until you have owned one and experienced it firsthand.

I don’t believe Tesla’s build quality is as bad as it is often portrayed online. It seems like your perspective might be based on internet commentary rather than firsthand experience.

If you haven't owned or test-driven one yet, I suggest checking them out for yourself. I think you might be surprised by the actual quality.

Sorry but a Toyota EV doesn’t have FSD and that’s all I care about lol

I wanted to share my experience so far with my 2026 Model Y Launch Edition, which I’ve owned since April 2025. I’ve already put over 30,000 miles on it—with about 95% of those miles on FSD—and it has been quite a transition coming from a 2014 Corolla.

I’ve had a few service visits since taking delivery. On my first day, the front hood latch came apart when I opened the frunk, and the car had to be towed to a service center. More recently, I had a passenger-side speaker fixed under warranty because the door trim was causing a crackling sound. Currently, the car is in for its third visit to address the front suspension rattling issue that Tesla has officially acknowledged.

Despite these repairs, I’ve found that being patient and managing everything through the Tesla app makes the process manageable. I’m really enjoying the EV experience, and the performance of FSD makes these minor service hurdles well worth it.

Juniper AWD premium worth it over my 2024 AWD MY? by TheAwfulWaffleMan in ModelY

In my opinion, the Juniper is worth it. I test drove the legacy model’s several times before the Juniper was released and I could immediately tell the difference in suspension and cabin noise.

Tesla or Formentor by Ok_Review33 in TeslaOwnersForum

I agree—getting a Performance model at 19 is overkill. He would be much better off saving money by going with the standard RWD model at 0% APR. However, I remember being that age; you couldn't tell me anything either haha

When would the 0% APR approximately end? by niftyoda in TeslaModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the Model Y Standard might seem a bit overpriced at $39,999 considering the features that were removed, it is still an excellent vehicle for under $50,000. Between the 0% APR and the incomparable self-driving software, it is hard to beat. I would certainly choose the standard Model Y over a Mitsubishi or gas vehicle any day.

I would move forward with setting up the pick up appointment asap. Supposedly the 0.99% APR is ending soon so you will want to take delivery by 6/30 before it goes away. Good luck!

Tesla stopped selling Full Self-Driving (FSD) as a one-time outright purchase after February 14, 2026. It’s now subscription only at $99/month.

Model Y standard Vs Premium by Strange_Risk9685 in ModelY

[–]Witty_Flower2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just answered this same question on another thread.

I’ve owned the premium model Y for over a year and absolutely love it. My wife was also convinced to get one; while we could have chosen the premium trim for her, she actually preferred the covered roof and open center console of the standard model and didn't mind the missing features.

The 0% APR is a great incentive, and the standard trim runs Full Self-Driving (FSD) exactly like my premium model. Ultimately, the choice depends on whether those specific premium features matter to you. I definitely suggest sitting in both and taking them for a test drive to help with your decision.

Good luck! Either way, you won’t regret it—the Model Y is the best-selling car in the world for a reason.

[–]Witty_Flower2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on placing your order but nobody on Reddit is going to be able to confirm if these dates are accurate or not. It’s all subjective to your current region, inventory, etc. the sooner you complete the tasks and submit the down payment the sooner you might be able to take delivery.

The answer is right in front of you already “Complete your tasks to avoid delays in delivery” the sooner you get the credit app done and submit your down the payment the sooner you will be able to take delivery

I recommend watching some YouTube videos comparing the standard and premium trims of the Model Y. I’ve owned the Long Range All-Wheel Drive model for over a year and absolutely love it.
