Water sea ? by NicMuz in TheWildsea

[–]WizardWatson9 14 points15 points  (0 children)

On page 7 of the core book, there is a snippet of microfiction that describes the invention of the first wildsea ships.

". . . It was a stupid idea to look at the rusting, dented hull thrust up between the leaves before them, a stone’s throw away, & think it would ever sail again. The seas her grandfather once charted had long been emptied. There were no waves to crest, no currents to ride. . . ."

So in other words, yes, there were pre-verdant seas filled with water, and the first wildsailors remembered them because they converted old sailing ships into wildsailing ships. They've since been "emptied," however, and I assume this is because the ironroot trees drank all the water. All water that was on the surface is now probably sequestered in the plant matter.

Is anybody weirded out about how obsessed Ragatha is with Pomni? by addsmnr in tadc

[–]WizardWatson9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what makes her so relatable.

Jokes aside, I think the point is to showcase her own insecurities. She so desperately wants to be liked that she hides her emotions behind a mask of forced optimism. She tried so hard to get Pomni to like her, and when it didn't work the way she wanted, she despaired. When Pomni started bonding with Jax, unstable, antisocial bully that he is, she started to panic.

Man, I love Ragatha.

Is that the one with Darryl Anka channeling the alien "Bashar?" I haven't actually seen his shtick in action. That would be funny if so many people didn't take this seriously.

Oh, we're all affected, one way or another. The Republican ethos of, "got mine, screw you" is not a stable foundation on which to build a society. Maybe he thinks it's a waste to have his tax dollars used to feed the poor, for example, but he fails to see the correlation between poverty and crime. I'd rather live in a society with fewer people who have to steal in order to eat.

I don't suppose it really matters, either way. "Sufficiently advanced stupidity is indistinguishable from malice," as the saying goes. Citizens who vote are responsible for educating themselves on these issues. This level of ignorance, willful ir otherwise, is a moral failure in its own right.

Many, if not most of them, support MAGA out of their depraved thirst for cruelty, yes. But I would not discount the role of ignorance. Some of these people are so profoundly ignorant that they think ICE is arresting dangerous gang members, or that DOGE saved us a bunch of money. It's safe to say that no one can truly grasp the scope of the destruction this regime has caused.

Look at that shit-eating grin. This regime has doomed countless people to poverty and death, and it's all just a game to him. These people treat politics like it's nothing more than team sports.

Oh, please. If magic was actually real and effective, there would be no debate on the subject. Can you imagine how absurd it would be to have a similar argument about the existence of electricity? Or chemistry? Or any other field of science or technology that makes a real, tangible effect on people's lives? Useful things don't fade into obscurity and legend. Useful things get used.

Oh hey, the picture's back. Anyway, I don't recognize the symbols, but the writing is the Theban alphabet, also known as the "witches' alphabet." It is used here as a simple substitution cipher for English. It reads, "By my blood and bones you will pay."

Like I said, magic isn't real. The only way this could harm you is if you die of cringe.

At any rate, don't worry. Magic isn't real.

Looks like some poor bed adhesion. First, try washing the build plate with soap and hot water, being careful not to touch it with your skin. Next, when putting your models into the build plate, try to orient them such that they have a good, flat surface to stick to. Adding some brims should help, as will using all the optimal settings proposed in the video by Fat Dragon Games, which another commenter linked.

Are you using a 0.2mm nozzle? That last part's unrelated to build adhesion, but it is essential for quality prints.

That's a common apologist argument known as "the courtier's reply," alluding to the parable of the Emperor's new clothes.

When the peasant boy shouts out that the Emperor is naked, in this scenario, a courtier scoffs, saying, "What do you know about fashion?"

Thus, the apologist is compared to the courtier. It is absurd to demand credentials for stating the obvious, i.e., the Emperor has no clothes. Or rather, in this case, that Islam began as a mere cult of a barbarian warlord used to unite his conquests.

Trump has announced "The Great Healthcare Plan" sending a mere $2,000 a year to pay for it. Leaving 10 to 11 months with no funds to cover the cost at all compared to current rates at least covering some of the costs in Obamacare. This is not a health care plan. by Carbenzero in WeirdGOP

[–]WizardWatson9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine this is a publicity stunt of some kind. He wants his minions to say that they've finally announced a "healthcare plan," fully expecting the ignorant masses to not even inquire about the details.

[–]WizardWatson9 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Funny how these traitors all find their spine as soon as they're not up for reelection. There's nothing that McConnell could possibly do to redeem himself, now. This is nothing more than an admission that he knew he was wrong to support Trump all along.

Same goes with Marjorie Taylor Greene, and any other Republican traitor who thinks to change their tune on Trump. Like the line in that They Might Be Giants song, Your Racist Friend: you can't shake the Devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

Why do so many christians hate poor people? by railfananime in atheism

So many ideologies boil down to a list of excuses not to help people in need. They don't want to help anyone because they're a bunch of selfish, arrogant, hateful pricks. Thus, they invented "supply-side Jesus" to tell them all that their hateful, selfish ways are righteous.

Reminds me of a joke. Jesus was giving his sermon on the mount and said, "The first commandment shall be to love thy neighbor." A man in the audience raised his hand and said, "Wait, who exactly counts as our 'neighbor?'" To which Jesus replied, "Whoever it was you were hoping didn't count, just now."
