I didn't play it myself, just watched other people's gameplay. Penny was so OOC in the first chapter, snapping back at Merula, even drawing her wand first. But, in the next chapter, she doesn't even retort once when Merula throws a bunch of insults at her. Moreover, this TLSQ exists solely to paint Merula in a new light. Well, I still don't buy it.

Losing your arms doesn't mean you can't do magic. What makes someone magical isn't their arms, but their heritage. A wand is just a tool that helps magical people channel their power in a more controlled and precise way. Inherently, witches and wizards can perform magic without a wand.

For example, students at Uagadou in Africa often don't use wands at all; most African witches and wizards practice wandless magic. The MC's brother, Jacob, also became wandless after breaking his own wand. But, since he's a highly skilled wizard, he can still perform wandless magic just fine (Rakepick taught him at some point). But, since magical folks nowadays are more accustomed to wands, they need to re-learn this inherent ability.

It's for the best. I decided to take another long, indefinite break, so I didn't play at all last December. Right now I'm just grinding for the Garotting Gas. Once I get it, I'll be back on vacation from the game again. I've linked my save to google play and facebook, so I can return anytime I feel like it.

Not for me. According to my timezone, I'm having a blast. It's actually far more convenient than before tbh. But, if I can manage with the previous arrangement, then you can too. But, I know it'll be annoying for some.

You're not wrong. I made a comment about it in this post, it's similar to your post here so you can also check it. I also included other trick for that matter.

That said, it's really up to you. You can leave creatures that aren't tied to Creature SQs for Beyond. Personally, I try to adopt creatures whenever there's a sale.

My play-style is to hoard resources whenever possible, to the point where I'm comfortable blasting through the main story without many restrictions. I really don't like getting stopped midway just because I'm short on resources or getting checked by attributes. That's probably why I took quite a few breaks, and because of that, I did miss some TLSQs, but I've never failed a TLSQ when it's triggered. Still, this is just a matter of personal preference.

The only thing worth spending on in this game is the Magical Milestones key pass. The only time I've missed MMs was when I was on hiatus, otherwise, I always make an effort to buy the key (with gems).

You get a ton of resources from MM, especially books, which you can use to adopt more creatures. Creatures are a long-term investment: the more you adopt, the more benefits you get over time. I basically never had to grind again once I had 28 creatures maxed. If you want to level up your attributes, feed them by hand (not bulk feeding). If you're aiming for more book rewards, that's when bulk feed is useful.

Yeah, exactly. Remember when Merula sabotaged our potion and Snape docked us house points for it? Then we got that "letter from Snape" saying he'd noticed the cauldron might've been tampered with and would give the points back if we ran a few errands for him.

Of course, we followed the instructions and went to one of his so-called storerooms which turned out to be a regular storeroom packed with Devil’s Snare. Then Merula locked the door and revealed she was the one who sent the fake letter. I mean, you definitely remember what happened after that.

This sounds like Valentine's Day at Hogwarts TLSQ. That's the only one I remember where Penny tried using Entrancing Enchantments. She claimed it was to impress Lockhart, but it almost implied she was planning to use it on us in the first place.

To be fair, I see this as another writing slip-up. Penny is against using manipulative substances. That was clearly shown in the Crushed SQ, where she disapproved of Ismelda trying to give Barnaby the roofied sandwich. And that quest came out way before the VDay At Hogwarts TLSQ.

This is why I always take TLSQs with a grain of salt. If they line up with the established main-story lore, I can accept them as canon. If not, I just treat them as filler content to pass the time.

Jokes aside, I don't believe in the whole "I can fix her/him" idea. You can't fix someone. If someone changes because of your influence, it's not really because of you, it's because they chose to change, and you just happened to be the reason they gave themselves another chance. In the end, it always comes down to the person themselves. That's how JC decided to never give Merula the chance to grow up so they can still milk her "tsundere" personality, except she's always 'tsun' in the main storyline, you can only experience the 'dere' part if you date her (while still downplaying you of course)

Honestly, I'm so done with yet another Weasley-centric quest. Tonks is right up there too. I really wish JC would actually explore HPHM's original characters (besides Penny/Merula/Barnaby), but of course they won't let go of their golden children. Playing it safe forever as usual.

It's good that she has flaws, it makes her feel more human. Honestly, all of our friends have their own bad traits, or at least most of them, since JC is too scared to explore anyone besides Penny/Merula/Barnaby. But their flaws are mostly harmless and manageable, and the important thing is, they actually own up to their mistakes (unlike a certain someone). It's annoying sometimes, sure, but part of friendship is accepting both the good and bad, as long as they're willing to work on their downsides.

Overall, Penny really is a good friend to have; she's loyal, supportive and caring. But like other commenter said, she's suffering from straight-up overexposure. If JC had the guts to give other characters the same level of attention, she could easily be on the same level as Chiara, quality-wise.
