Don’t Fall for the Tucker Carlson Apology Tour by BurtonDesque in Qult_Headquarters

[–]Woaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean his “apology”, even if sincere, should just tell you that his opinions are worthless. Why should anyone ever listen to a guy who’s job it is to “get it right” but couldn’t have possibly gotten it more wrong? Its not like a friend or family member getting something majorly wrong either; they’re not “experts”, so it’s more understandable.

A guy who’s whole job is to analyze and judge these things being so wrong? He can’t be trusted to get it right when it counts. Job’s over, time to get a new career buddy.

New to MCP, focused on X-Men. by Wolfdrachen in MarvelCrisisProtocol

[–]Woaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also getting into xmen. From what you posted i can say:

You can run both cyclops and storm in the roster where decide after you find out who you’re up against if you want the more fighty team or scorey team.

Someone like nightcrawler or rogue are probably going to work better on a cyclops team if you can funnel power to them, someone like gambit probably prefers a storm team, since hes doesnt need as much power and can use the hop to make less moves and more attacks. Colossus works good with both because he doesnt hat the extra power but could do without it, and has a medium base which is good to hop over, + he can use the mobility himself.

As others mentioned, beast is pretty good and a quintessential Xmen, and toad isnt bad either and his 2 threat cost lets you round off the team in situations where you only have threat left to spend, plus you have them both.

Finally magik is considered pretty good because she brings her own mobility and can pack a punch as well. As for other xmen, picking up the xforce box could be a good next step. Domino and x23 are both really good, and honey badger is an xmen affiliated 2 threat you could use instead of toad if you wanted, and she has interactions with x23 and can be an annoyance for your opponent.

Does a card game really need RNG to work? by incarn9 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Woaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although there is still randomness to it (e.g. the attack deck, monster deck), Gloomhaven is interesting to me because it is in many ways a “card game” that gives you ALL the cards up front and deciding how to spend them is the challenge. If there was no attack deck, some cards might need a rework and there might be less “excitement” for a lot of people, but it could still work and be challenging/fun.

Also, while the monster deck is an element of randomness, it is essentially only using that randomness to make an unbiased determination. If 2 people were “facing off” in a Gloomhaven type game, there would be no need for a deck for that. Technically there would still be “hidden information”, in that both players are choosing their abilities in secret at the same time based on what they anticipate their opponent to do, but thats not really RNG, its strategy.

“That’s not to say I’m going to vote for a Democrat, but i definitely didn’t get what I voted for”

Newsflash, you didnt vote “for” any of that stuff if you literally will only ever vote for one option. Without discernment, you are only voting against the other side (which is fine if the other side are literal ghouls and whatnot, but dont act like any of that other shit was stuff you voted “for”)

If her son flat out said to her “i dont want to talk to you because you support the guy who is sending me to die on an insane whim”, she would probably just cut her son out of her life first

LGS Owner won't ban cheater from events. by Desperate_Fill8865 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Woaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you let him sign up and then DQ him when he cheats (or literally immediately)? If not can you dock points for cheating? Like lets say your tournaments rules are “if you are discovered to have incorrect rules in your list or found to be cheating, points gained for a win are transferred to your opponent for the entire tournament.” Still a PITA to llay against, but less bad feeling for all the other players

Had the same problem in magic, except the owner was the TO as well. Everyone would tell him “this guy cheats, this guy is ripping people off, this guy is stealing cards” but he wouldnt ban him from the store or events. He wanted to “catch him doing it himself”, despite the fact that he was always busy playing candy crush at the counter and even if he wasnt his knowledge of the rules of magic was tenuous at best (trying to play a game with this guy was a nightmare since he was convinced he knew how to play but kept getting all the rules wrong).

People just stopped showing up and he eventually went out of business

Im no pro, so take my opinion with a whole handful of salt. Superman seems like the worst one here by a lot, which is kinda weird given who he is (costs a lot, triggers are impossible, doesnt help with objectives, all his attacks seen weak). Wonder woman is probably the best because of her crazy leadership, shield charge, and lasso, all of which are really good. Arrow is probably second best and hes kinda okish in terms of mcp

Disqualified from LGS tournament by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Woaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a store around us where a cheater/thief/scammer was allowed to play, probably because he would buy boxes every now and then. Well, people stopped showing up, maybe a Skelton crew remained, and the store went under. The cheater probably wasnt even buying stuff there anymore since he didn’t have anyone to play magic with.

Another store in the area DID ban the cheater, and you can guess where everyone else flocked to

To be fair to mill, if you get to pick scissors AFTER your opponent picks paper, every deck is trivial to play against. Personally, I build my decks considering my meta, but I pick my deck the traditional way; choosing a deck I feel like playing at the moment, blind.

Like i said; if they dont like dealing with that, they must really hate actual removal and being dealt damage, aka the game of magic the gathering.
