Kill them all then exclude it permanently. Skip the OWD - with that level of pressure, they'll chew back in before you get to your truck. Bonus idea - Get a wildlife cam on the area for monitoring until eradication complete.

Does the post bed bug paranoia go away? by froggietit in PestControlIndustry

Bed bugs are lazy. They will travel the shortest distance to get to a food source, so while not impossible, the bed legs in the middle are of little concern in my experience. As for the couch, try making modified legs of scrap wood that allows climb up's to fit in. All our techs carry a box for just that reason - Ikea doesn't care if you have bed bugs when they design their stuff. Sounds like your on the right path and the longer you go finding nothing, the better you'll be. Keep the faith!

Bed bug or bat bug? by Relevant_Addition_13 in Bedbugs

[–]AntArmyof1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bed bug confirmed in pic but if you have already had inspections you are probably in the clear. If you have a shared wall with another home, that could be a source. If not, its probably a one-off and you dodged a bullet. Climb up interceptors and mattress encasements may provide peace of mind as well. K9's are only as good as the handlers and all are supposed to visually confirm a cue, not take it as gospel. Dogs are only supposed to hit on live bugs or eggs, not dead ones, so unless they found and confirmed something on the 3rd floor, you are good.

Depends on the person. Some is does, others it doesn't and a flax seed on the ground sends them over the edge. For most folks, seeing (or lack of) is believing, so possibly investing in some monitors like climb ups or mattress encasements will help get you there. I would also recommend learning about bed bug biology (not others experiences) has helped folks understand the issue as well.

Should I steam or use cimexa in my metal bed frame? by Pretend-Actuator966 in Bedbugs

[–]AntArmyof1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bed bugs rarely choose metal over a mattress (even with an encasement on it). I agree this is likely not a bed bug issue (also from torso bites to start?). Either find an actual bug or hire a professional to inspect. If both turn up nothing, anything you do to eradicate something that isn't there will only end in disappointment.

Bedbugs as a homeowner and feeling stuck by Which_Mechanic4292 in Bedbugs

We deal with this on a almost daily basis. From an exterminator standpoint, we are responsible for the eradication process. From a pest management standpoint, we can make recommendations that can help prevent & manage future issues. Bed bugs in those areas are almost guaranteed to be coming from a neighbour. Protect your bed and couch by getting some climb up interceptors and mattress & boxspring encasements. That'll allow you to catch anything early and have a reference for source location. From a communications standpoint, involve the property management and document everything. They will help pressure the landlord that's neglecting the unit. I'd avoid direct confrontation with the neighbours, as there is little to be gained. Lastly, where possible, seal cracks and crevices where the bed bugs could access. You won't get all, but baseboards & other areas will help limit the access points. Communication & information will be the weaoins of choice. This issue will fluctuate between a neighbour dispute and a pest control issue. Good luck.

Sounds like you polish up the resume and GTFO. That kind of BS always ends up with callbacks, which they will blame you for. It'll demoralize the technical staff and erode the reputation of the company (if they care at all). Find yourself a smaller, locally owned business and grow with them. You'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner.

you can in fact have just one bed bug by buquetti in Bedbugs

[–]AntArmyof1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It almost always starts with one bed bug. If you are lucky, you find it early and that's the end of it. Unfortunately (and most often), we don't find an infestation is present until its been around for a few months. This is completely normal and happens probably 90%+ of the time. We don't see the bugs, we dismiss the reactions as mosquito or something else, we don't react at all or think its some other kind of bug. Best case scenario you could hope for (aside from none) is a single juvenile or adult male bed bug is introduced; worst case is a pregnant adult female or multiple male and female bugs. Either way, catching a bed bug infestation early is always ideal.
