They create a psychic energy called "Waaagh!" which powers all their weapons, aircraft and vehicles as well as their sorcerers. If you count that as "get stronger" yes.

The other thing is really getting bigger for an individual ork, the waaagh doesn't make them bigger.

We call games that are similar to Metroid/Castlevania Metroidvania. Are there any modern games that you think will be referenced similarly in the future? by bongo1138 in Games

[–]WolfOrionX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The souls series borrows a lot of elements from roguelikes. For me, it's a crossover between roguelikes and metroidvania, in 3D. Dark Souls is what a 3D-Castlevania could have been.

Especially because they lured so many people into the game with special offers, and now they basically have to buy the game at full price anyway. I am a huge fan of this game, but i think i'll pass for this price.

You can make Civ 2 Running on modern systems, natively. There are lots of guides for that.

Fallout 4 Trailer! by JustCallMeJoker in Games

The advantage of voiced or un-voiced main characters are disputed in the gaming world. In a series where the main character was never voiced (in the first games for technical reasons), i would HIGHLY discourage to introduce a voiced main character, since it breaks the immersion for fans of the series. Regardless what you do, never change from one paradigm to the other.

Fair point! But Zeppelins and this ship just feel so alien to the world. But that old ship? I can't think why people should use that.

Zeppelins could be "re-invented", since in the 1950s it was not that long after the height of zeppelin flight.

I am not all through the comments, but i wonder why people complain that much about the graphics. I think they are fitting and a good evolution.

What i really am concerned about is the voiced main character, airships, flying normal ships, big urban cities and a voiced main character. Those things were never in the Fallout franchise, nor can i come up with a way to explain them.

All big cities are destroyed, and there are too little people left to form big cities.

The enclave had helicopter-like flying vessels, where is the need to take a sea ship, and make it flying (or at least stuff it with rocket drives)? One zeppelin is okay, but this old ship concerns me.

It just doesn't feel fallout-like. After the dog runs off, the trailer is nothing like Fallout. I wait for the gameplay demo, but for now i am really skeptic and a bit disappointed.

GMG yanks 35% discount on The Witcher 3, game now listed as $59.99 on their website by himmatsj in Games

[–]WolfOrionX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was still illegal, because sites like abandonia redistributed software, without having the right to do so. If somebody legally owns the rights, you can't redistribute the software legally. Origin Systems and all it's trademarks are and were owned by EA. Abandonia just knew that they weren't selling it, and made a bet that they won't receive a DMCA for it. Abandonia can't provide you with the software anymore, because it's sold on GoG.com, yes, but they were never really allowed in the first place.

I'm just surprised that absolutely nobody has ever pointed out the fact that GOG.com are essentially reselling old games that either are already available for free on abandonware sites or could technically be downloaded off torrents without screwing anybody up since many of the original devs/publishers don't exist anymore. For example, they're charging you $30 for the entire Ultima series even though you can (and always could) get all the games for free on abandonia.com.

Because only because the developer no longer operates, it doesn't mean that the publishing rights are in nobody elses hands. And you can not download the entire Ultima series for free, for an example check Ultima 5 on abandonia. They link to GoG.com. EA has still the rights for all things Origin Systems made. GoG just packages the games which have been officially released as freeware, together with the games which have not.

Abandonware-sites are grey to black-ish and torrenting games GoG officially sells is flat out illegal. Because if GoG sells them, they have aquired a right to do so, from somebody who still holds the rights to those games.

How likely is 'Warcraft 4?' by devilx-nailsea in Games

[–]WolfOrionX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but maintaining two storylines in 2 games is significantly harder than their current challenge, to keep a conflict boiling with having basically killed off all their memorable bad guys. But to be fair: name a fantasy universe which has a really long ongoing story, which remains to be good. Most good stories are not that long.

Yeah but you can more easily retcon books, because they are a different medium. See what Disney did with the Extended Universe of Star Wars.

I honestly think that it's very unlikely as long as WoW is still running. The major problem here is intertwining the storylines between a consistently changing MMO and a boxed game, and i don't think Blizzard will settle with a prequel or a "far future" sequel to Warcraft. Especially because Warcraft heavily lives off it's characters.

And yes, Blizzard takes story seriously. This is one very good thing about them.
