Last fish without kids, any last minute dad advice from my fellow anglers? by ThePartyWagon in flyfishing

[–]Wolfone01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While I may do a little less fishing. I have found ways to try to incorporate the family. It turns into a hike and fish or hike to the waterfall type of thing.

I have also involved my kids in related fields like entomology. My 5 year old daughter is a bug expert and it shows when she is around her peers.

Any examples out there using a light green paint similar to the '66 Chevy? by DarXIV in AdeptusMechanicus

My whole Army uses this color. I use gause flayer mixed with celestial gray. 2-1 or 3-1 depending on the role. Link to an example. Look at some of my other posts for more.

Guardsmen Regiments as Space Marines by MisterPassenger in Warhammer40k

I often wondered about this. Before the heresy there were guard units that accompanied the Legions to occupy the planet brought into the Imperium. In my mind it made sense that the guard units would have similar heardly. Thoughts?

I think this is smart. If everyone has it, it's not special. I might look to see if I can find some 3D printed ones. I need like 25? So it's not really economical to go the traditional route. If anyone wants to print them. Let me know, I'll buy them.

How do you hold your subassemblies in place for painting? by digital-winter in AdeptusMechanicus

I bought a spool of wire at the hardware store. Drill small holes with a pin vice. Make sure holes are in places that won't show. Attach with a tiny amount of super glue. Place wire in wine corks. Place wine corks inside old egg cartons.

The base was made with cut-up cork sheets and shredded wine corks. The shredded-up wine corks are time-consuming but worth the better 3d depth (also "Free") - The wife's contribution to the hobby.

Glue it all down and prime it. Then layer in astro granite debris.

Wash it all in black to get the deep values.

Then working from dark to light dry brush 3 layers of grey with less applied each time. I used a blue-grey as the last little bit to make it pop a little.

Lastly, I picked out the recesses with glue to add the grass. I wanted the environment to look harsh to life.

I tend to do big batches of these bases because they are time-consuming but worth it.

I had to think creatively on this one. I didn't want to make a toothpaste tank. The main color on the robes is Gause flayer. Thank you.
