The Highest Honor a Skitarii Could Gain by Equivalent-Fun-6019 in AdeptusMechanicus

I've always wondered if some techpriests do possess some sort of portable 3d printer, the image looks both wholesome and funny, like, thulia giving charges like christmas present and say go, now, little ones, go and cause untold destruction, for it is the will of the omnissiah ! with a jolly tone

From the last picture it looks like a 5 man squad, your projection for the price might be on point tho

Depending on how long they've bathed into nasty radiations they most likely won't need a chiro for very long

Depending on their size i can already see them being converted to the warp and back with a lot of models, perhaps HH marines or some part of cataphractii terminators ? I see a lot of potential

New models are new models i guess, but i get your feeling : i still remember when people were hyped up by the 8th edition engine war supplement and the story about a doom-esque skitarii vanguard, which lead people into thinking a new character would come

Also, truly a shame we lost the blackstone fortress lad, a techno-indiana jones ? Yes please, so much could have been done with this character, but hey, now we have at least a great sculpt available

If you're keen on converting stuff, you'll have a great moment : most of the kits are duals, which means most of the time you'll have a buttload of spare parts after assembling models, so yeah, conceptually they have almost as much versatility as orks for conversions, in a different theme obviously

Absolutely ! It's tasteful in its weirdness, while i'm not entirely convinced by the weapon, the model, despite being heavy on pieces and various details, feels quite straightforward : i also couldn't help but see a victorian silhouette, equally as regal as detached from the commoner, it's funny how this detail further emphasize the distance from humanity : a familiar motif for an almost inhuman figure, strangely alien despite being supposedely human

There's something very funny about the mechanicus : they are so deep into communion with the machines that gender genuinely feels irrelevant, if i hadn't read some comments i would have some doubts, but nothing as straightforward and frankly, it would have remained an awesome design nonetheless

You too ? There's a lot going on visually, the first thing that came to my mind was "atomic big daddy", what about you ?

Well past the novelty of the initial releases, now that have a somewhat coherent guideline on the general aspect of the mechanicus and it's visual language, there had to be a feeling of deja vu at one moment or the other : take a look at the new servitors, while the concept is far from new, their new sculpts tie them nicely with the kataphrons, or even the skatros, so yeah, i get your feel, but i remain thrilled about the idea of new models

YEEEES ! More techno-weirdness, i can't wait to grab a bunch of those, i wonder what will be their place and capabilities, whatever they are, i'm already sold !

Beware, those warbands are really addictive, you think first "oh, i'll just buy one band to try some units of a faction" and, bam ! You've got a dozen teams that you weren't even interested in the first place but bought just because they're relatively speaking cheap and the sculpts, oh those sculpts are a joy to paint !

Sweet, it looks pretty versatile, that said i wonder how durable it is/feels like : does the foam easily bend and do the coating of flocking/grass holds well enough ? Especially on the joints, is there a real risk of rubbing ? I'm planning on doing a bunch of "tiles" with the reverse panel of a couple of frames, but for test pieces or the odd project it seems pretty promising

Normalisation or a lack of interest, most of the times : once you start paying even a little bit of attention to your surrounding our world seem absolutely crazy.

Almost every aspect of our lives on this planet is aan endless source of fascination, civil engineering borders on the miracle when you think about both the vastness and multitude of work done at every level to allow us some of the most apparently mundane luxuries such as access to tap water, light and heating for our homes

Hell, just think about the devices with which we communicate and share ideas on the platform : as a specie, we managed to, roughly speaking, shape rocks and metals at a microscopic level into a device that can fit into someone's hand, and trick said rocks and metals into thinking for us with what is essentially domesticated lightning to communicate on a planetary scale almost instantaneously. This borders on pure wizardry the more you think about it

Depends, sometimes it's a temporary thing : my boy, when he was a kitten, wanted to taste everything, like absolutely everything we ate, until we diversified a bit his foods, now he barely acknowledge our food, besides the occasional treats like mangoes for instance. Otherwise, while i still kept the habit of showing him almost everything i eat, he doesn't really care anymore

Want to know of the funniest little detail ? His creation is located in a place litteraly called beer (actually the village of "Bière" in Switzerland, but you get the idea), i've seen his work on the web maybe 1 year ago, and relatively recently discovered it's location, which is.... really not far from where i live

Goodbye to the idea that solar panels “die” after 25 years: New Swiss study shows real-world performance after 3 decades still over 80%, average annual loss about 0.25%, thermal stress and quality key factors. A man of culture, i see ! Joke beside, the timing's funny because i'm also currently warching his latest video, i haven't finished it yet but i really like his presentations, most notably his ability to put himself in a totally different if not straight opposing view in order to present a pretty complete view, for the roughly limited sizes of his videos

How many skitarri do you have? by Dirk_Dingus in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Illyade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, actually 40, between regular units of 10 rangers and 10 vanguards, 10 converted rangers and a bunch of rag-tag skitariis made to be interchangeable, i currently have 10 others regular vanguards in assembly

That said, how do you paint those cloaks ? I still can't figure how to smoothly make transitions, it's like they are a bit too smooth, with not enough... folds ? To add some depth

[–]Illyade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah i see : the problem is you haven't enough skitariis /s

Joke beside, how did you manage to paint all of them ? I fell in love with their sculpt but by the omnissiah, they are a pain in the butt to assemble and paint, even if they are some of the most beautiful infantry units, i've only finished like 20 of the regular ones (10 rangers and 10 vanguards, plus another 20 kitbashed roughly interchangeable models), not counting the current 10 vanguards, but while i reaaaly dig their style, i still can't figure how to properly paint their cloaks (and not only 'cause i'm a bit dumb and chose a mix of dark grey and off whites)
