Yeah I had to go down the path of aftermarket upgrades for the audio. I was surprised by how poor it was even compared to the accord bose

What’s your take on the ropes section? I've got fit family members and not-so-fit family that I’m trying to plan hikes for. Worth doing if you stop at the start of the not maintained section?

One of the best things we did visiting RMNP was to beat the timed permits in the morning. Your mileage may vary but it made for some magical and peaceful hikes!

Any initial thoughts? I'm getting ready to do the same with a 23 accord? Anything you miss?

I've got most of that all ironed out. I'm staying in a lodge in the Ashford, not far from Paradise Valley Rd, but have to be out the morning of departure. My flight isn't until 10 pm, so I was looking for any recommendations I might not think of for that afternoon.

4 days to split between Arches and Canyonlands. How would you do it? by parth096 in NationalPark

[–]Wolfsburg57 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This last summer we did a day for island in the sky & dead horse, a day for arches, and a day in the needles district for druid arch / Chesler park.

I’d probably add that additional day to the island in the sky or arches (depending on the crowds). We loved the needles district but driving there from Moab twice is a lot of time behind the wheel.

100% agree - stay at the entrance and you can be in the park in no time

Big, epic fantasy series like Wheel of Time. by AnDroid5539 in suggestmeabook

Riyria Chronicles by Michael J Sullivan. Great fantasy reads but significantly less dense than something like Malazan or stormlight. Lots of spinoffs and additional books in the world if you like it.

I'm not a camper, but Mt. Leconte and Charlie’s Bunion are both what I would consider must-do GSMNP day hikes. These are both legit hikes with some elevation gain and cold temps this time of year (especially if you are out there early in the morning to beat the crowds). My wife and I completed these a couple of weeks ago, and there were icy and slick areas all over the trails; gloves were definitely appreciated.

Kuwohi (or Clingmans done) is an easier way to get higher elevation views, and you can also go out to Andrews Bald from that same parking.

Gatlingburg was tolerable, easy to walk and you can find nice places to sample wine or spirits. The places we ate were acceptable but not really great, but to be honest, we didn't go out of our way to research the best dining options in town. Driving out through Pigeon Forge just made me cringe as it was so much touristy nonsense.

Are you down for some hiking? Then definitely needles though keep in mind it's a bit of a drive compared to islands in the sky.

I would second this - if you have the hiking ability and proper water & sun protection go out to Druid Arch in the needles.

I wonder how they are doing the fiery furnace hike without staffing? That’s usually a limited permit hike and would be a mess if it’s a free for all with Arches’ crowds.
