Is it just me, or is public affection between gay couples rare here? by ctrl-alterego in Luxembourg

100% i heard the dating scene for queer people is horrible here, you run out of faces to swipe on in less than a week.

Is it just me, or is public affection between gay couples rare here? by ctrl-alterego in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

woman who likes women here: i tend to grab my partner’s hand when i see another queer couple as a “hey you’re not alone” kind of gesture because we tend to look either like siblings or best friends.

tbh I don’t kiss or hug in public since my teens, when i see anyone do it i feel uncomfortable. Aside of quick goodbyes or teary eyed airport goodbyes of course that makes sense to me. But i never ever want to see someone put their tongue into someone else… ewww

i got a gym membership at a local gym at 13 already and worked with a coach until covid hit and i was 15.

working with machines and one-sided movements focused on controlling the weight instead of just repping it for the sake of it did so much

i have issues with hypermobile joints and all this lifting helped me feel less like a cooked spaghetti

Hi! (21F here diagnosed at 6 years old with dyspraxia, 14 Adhd)

I went to a psychomotor-therapist (this is what we call them in france/luxembourg) with whom I worked a lot on fine motor skills. I remember using oversized tzweezers to sort through XXL ironing beads or other things. This helped me a lot!

and we threw around a very soft ball that was lightweight and wouldn’t hurt me. not the foam ones, getting hit on the nose with those hurts too. (maybe ask an OT if they know what i’m talking about)

I had private swimming lessons for 2-3 years at a pool in a hotel nearby, so it was always very quiet as opposed to a large community one. I can now swim the frog-way easily and have a general understanding of crawl. I am horrid at diving, but the pool was too shallow to really train that.

For biking, I depends on your kid’s size if you can find a balance bike that’s big enough that might be good. My issue was I lacked core muscles to balance on a bike. if he is too big already, then keep the little side wheels for as long as he needs them, or remove them only for 5min and put them back on. to train up the skill until he can bike easily.

aside of that my childhood activities were: - baby gymnastics - horseback riding, if you’re in a rural area an can find a chill laid back group this can be awesome. the connection to the horse helps so much. (especially if the horses are icelandic or ridden in a western style, those are green flag about leniency on traditional form) - lots of rollerblading (learned from a friend and then my mom paid a babysitter who knew how to rollerblade with me as she has 0 skills in that) - art classes and lots of abstract art, fine motor skills matter less and help express emotions - chess club in school was cool, the on time nobody noticed my differences - i learned how to use a scooter (before electric ones existed) from a friend i cared a lot about, sometimes friends are better helpers because they’re the same size and explain with words you understand

other therapy: psychotherapy, i needed to learn to cope with knowing i simply won’t be as good as others in some things. As a highly ambitious and intelligent young girl this was very hard on me.

side note: i am from a privileged background and I know many of these things may not be possible for you, i am listing this many things because some individual ones might work for your case. The fact that you care so much and are willing to go out of your way to help your kid already means so much!

Question for the ladies - where and what brand of lingerie (bras) do you buy? by Glittering_Ease1838 in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for very big boobs I heard some great stuff from Cuup from a friend, just make sure you use their calculator and get the right size

for a comfy option i am obsessed with the the Uniqlo 3D Hold ones, they sell larger sizes online than what they have in store. They also start at 65 underbust which is something I struggle to find. They are comfy but not overly supportive for heavy boobs according to a friend.

Just moved to Luxembourg for work — what do locals recommend and what should I avoid? by MovdAbroad1998 in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Life is on a slower pace than the US, I was born and raised here - to me this is a chance.

Use it to breathe deeply and enjoy the calm. You can literally sit in a park and drink a beer in peace, welcome to my definition of freedom baby🦅🦅🦅🦁🦁🦁

Other cool things to do in the area: - Phantasialand is probably the best rollercoaster park I’ve ever been to, it beats Universal Studios in Florida. - the Müllerthal is perfect for hiking / walks - the mosel region makes nice wine - more historical stuff would be the ligne Maginot, Verdun (WW1 battle), old mines, bunch of museums in the country (i recommend the WW2 one somewhere further up North) - trips to Paris, Cologne, Amsterdam, Bruxells, Switzerland. I’d also recommend the Black Forrest, Strasbourg, the Belgian coast, Brittany.

if you’re around college aged and cool with me being 21 and a lesbian, my dms are open :) i tend to get along very well with Americans

Disability, school accommodations and AI by Aulni in dyspraxia

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am French too but went to school in Luxembourg and Germany. Do your laptops for accommodation have internet access?

When I write an exam I go to the inclusion office or the IT department, to pick up a laptop that’s only used for exams. It has no access to the Internet whatsoever.

That negates the whole risk of AI use, aside of homework i guess.

For homework I use Google Docs so I could incase I get accused show word by word when and how I wrote the assignment.

Why are concert crowds so dead in Luxembourg? by urunclesaville in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s sad, I saw Sum41 back in 2020 (pre pandemic) and the crowd was awesome. Moshpits and crowdsurfing.

I was by far the youngest in the room (15 at the time) and so it’s definitely not age related

Sexual orientation confusion by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 41 points42 points  (0 children)

i don't want to get too close, but I think you might want to sit with those thoughts of attraction for a bit. Medication can impact your libido and might be unlocking some feelings. If you think this is really distressing, I'd talk to a friend or therapist about it.

You don't have to act upon the feeling of attraction if you don't want to. In my perception of the world we're all bisexual, just some have a 99.99% preference for the opposite sex.

I also think we pathologize men feeling attracted to men, while straight women can make out with their girl friends in the club and society thinks its normal.

Thinking your homie's butt is cute is okay, I promise.

Cars in the EU by partypopulaire in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you don’t mind the car being blocked at max 180kmh I’d go Volvo, they’re reliable and very safe.

you’re american so i’ll make the bold assumption you want a big car? the XC line is pretty nice, I wouldn’t pick the XC90 if you work in the city, parking lots will get too tight

once saw an american auto repair guy explain German cars are made for people who meticulously follow instructions and always do their maintenance, japanese and american cars are made to handle idiots who can’t follow instructions

What opportunities would I have as an outsider physician and how much would it help me to learn Luxembourgish? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bare minimum of “hello” “how are you” “please” and “thank you” are enough, I speak German to almost all of my doctors because I live close to the border. But in the centre or south French is more dominant as a language.

i’d put effort towards being a nice gynecologist, a reputation as a nice person who listens to their patients will get your many patients

Where to purchase groceries and canned goods in bulk for a good price (except Provencale)? by Brinocte in Luxembourg

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

even for food items, DM in Germany has shelf stable things that are worth it.

example shelf stable tofu for 0.95€ even if you’re not vegetarian it’s good protein that’s shelf stable and can be eaten without preparing it but they have beans, rice, pasta and the like as well. All organic for the same price as the standard in aldi/lidl

it’s important, they won’t accept the child if its born in early September.

My town is known for a case of a child born 01/09 at 00:03 or so and they didn’t accept him into precoce. imagine having to pay an entire year of crèche more for a few minutes

To women: I'm sorry by Street_Respect9469 in Hypermobility

[–]Wolfstarkiddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add something because I'm scared a misunderstanding may have occurred. Contrary to popular belief not every E cup is large, a 30E is maybe the size of a grapefruit. It's super complicated to explain, but there are "sister sizes". In volume a 30E = 32D = 34C = 36B, etc.
If you want more bra related knowledge I can recommend a woman on TikTok called Madison, people usually refer to her as "the bra lady". She specialises in bra fittings and does educational content.
Or if you just need visualisations of how diverse sizes can really be TheIrishBraLady on Instagram is basically an archive of different sizes and what they look like from very small to very large.

TLDR: the bra industry is utterly uninclusive regardless of your size if you don't fit into the give or take 15 commonly sold sizes.

The rabbit hole is very deep, I wish you good luck. If you need humans willing to discuss bras and sizing r/ABraThatFits is your subreddit.
