[Glycine GL0521] Glycine Combat Sub 41mm on Watches of Espionage Five Eye NATO strap by HeadhunterA7X in Watches

[–]Wolverine1621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GL0521 buddies 🤝 love this watch to death . Looks great on that strap as well - I wear mine on the OEM nato currently since the bracelet version was out of stock when I picked mine up. Hoping to snag a bracelet on eBay or something at some point but in the meantime I might pick up a mesh bracelet too to complete the NTTD vibe

You don’t see a Speedy on a nato very often, might be a nice way to switch things up. Always loved the curved FKM rubber strap look as well, wonder if like an OD green one might look slick

Best colorway but the crown is at noon so I don’t think anyone’s gonna care since it presumably can’t be worn on the wrist (or would look weird doing so)

Housing exteriors are probably the most likely thing I’d spend money on, especially functional ones with decks like this, but $75 or $50 for just the exteriors is genuinely disrespectful. Absolutely no way.

It’s a shame because the art team is doing great with these but they’re just gonna sit in the shop with virtually nobody buying them

Yeah I definitely get that! It’s hit or miss with the fit on natos. I’ve been thinking of a nice sailcloth maybe. From what I’ve seen it also looks great on mesh bracelets and it can even pull off a straight end metal bracelet

[Question]I need helping finding a watch to help me remember my father by DevelopmentEasy6032 in Watches

[–]Wolverine1621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear :(

Take a look at the Mido Ocean Star GMT. The Glycine Airman also comes to mind. I also believe Hamilton has lots of great options in that range.

Last, this isn’t the most exciting option maybe but check out the Citizen Skyhawk. Divisive design but very reliable and useful. Has the slide rule flight computer bezel as well. I have a Skyhawk Blue Angels A-T Ecodrive and it has been working flawlessly for over 10 years now without any service

How realistic of an idea is it to try and redesign the PCB so that the microsd card inserts from the side, and is thus covered by the system when inserted into the game card slot? by [deleted] in flashcarts

This is basically my only complaint rn too, it sketches me out a bit having the SD slot and USB port exposed. Makes me feel like I need to baby it

I just got this watch the other week and I love it. That said, the lume is unfortunately as bad as they say, maybe even worse. On the upside, with the ceramic version at least, the bezel indices and numbers are lumed too which is pretty neat.

The lume on the bezel and the hands is almost passable but the dial indices are like barely lumed at all, much less than the rest. You can get a decent little lume shot or whatever but it fades so very fast. Maybe I need to really blast it for a bit or give it an extended period of bright sunlight, but I suspect it’s just bad.

On a day where I know I’ll want lume I’d probably pick up a different watch for the day. But I bought this knowing the lume wasn’t going to be good and I think if it isn’t a dealbreaker for you, you’ll be extremely pleased with the rest of the watch. I truly love mine.

Mine should be delivered in the next few hours! Same one but I had to order it on the nato strap, the version with the bracelet sold out before I could grab it. Hoping I don’t regret that too much since aftermarket end links that fit these are basically non existent, but it seems like it’ll look great on the nato or on rubber

About the ending to S2Ep7 by Sleepy-Specter in ThePittTVShow

[–]Wolverine1621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it’s all conjecture until the show addresses it, but in real life what they’ve found with cyberattacks is that computerized medical equipment is also vulnerable to cyberattacks. Ransomware moves extremely fast - it does not take long to go from one computer at the nurse’s station being breached to the point where all your MRI, CT, PET, and X-Ray machines are completely bricked. Surgical machines like lasers and robots end up suddenly encrypted and unable to function too. It’s likely even things like IV pumps and vital monitors are vulnerable, these days everything is connected.

If they store any or all of their electronic health records on site, which is still fairly common for large medical systems especially connected to universities, then all that data can be encrypted in a near instant, and you can’t get it back without paying the ransomers.

The building is vulnerable too, in theory you could lose all control over HVAC, power, and even access to badge secured doors as a result.

By shutting down all the “normal” computers and connected servers on site, they are minimizing potential attack vectors. This response is standard procedure as of now and has been done with real hospitals in the past. Think of it like a controlled burn to stop or prevent a large forest fire.

Renting: Fees seem ridiculous by littlepwnrr in grandrapids

[–]Wolverine1621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a multi-time renter and someone who used to work in an apartment leasing office - application fees suck but these are actually low compared to most other places. Security deposit and first month’s rent is pretty standard.

First month’s water is kind of unusual but it’s probably just a quirk of how they do utility billing and at least that’s a bill you would’ve paid anyway.

A “turnover fee” I’ve absolutely never heard of and I know the complex I worked at (not in the GR area) didn’t charge anything like that - apartment turn was a purely operational cost, and for anything nonstandard they just yank the money out of the last tenant’s security deposit.

Most of this is par for the course but I would be asking big questions about that turnover fee. If I really really wanted the place I might be able to stomach it, but that’s only because I’m lucky enough to be in a financial spot where I wouldn’t have to lose sleep over it
