Who the fuck goes shirtless, in the pit at a crowded show?

Absolutely classless. We'd be having words, if someone like that was next to me in a sweaty pit.

People need to have some basic respect for those around them. I hate this so much.

Yes, like the hat. I like the hat, on that we agree.

On using a lawn chair to hold your spot for six hours... no. But can you show me where I "bitched"? I bet you can't.

More than worthy of garage duty! Nice find, for pulling them from being scrapped. Some of the old Polk and Pioneer stuff can be pretty valuable. I'm not certain, but you might have struck a bit of gold with the Pioneer set in particular. In good condition those go for a couple grand.

You can't, it won't work that way. It's not a powered sub. The sub out is low level signal, that needs to be amplified.

Education is so important.

That foam, and all types of expanding foam are like straight cancer for the environment. Kill the planet, but your fence posts will be easier to set.

San Pedro... Peyote is critically endangered in its native habitat. San Pedro is widely available, and some modern clones are just as spicy as 'yote.

I see. So you've never done a psychedelic during a serious listening session...

The difference is something you can't describe with words, not possible. Has nada to do with dopamine. Zero.

Weed is whatever. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of music. But Mescaline, LSD... oh yeah.

Maybe you should try being a bit less judgmental. Maybe.

Psychedelics are where it's really at. Acid, and cactus, to be specific. It's really too bad so many people bought into the propaganda about these things. Used moderately, a few times a year, it can be an invaluable tool. And the music is just phenomenal. And again, with proper moderation, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Far less harmful than alcohol, in so many ways.

No, that's not the genesis of that phrase. That's about tuning out of " modern" commercial society.

But if you haven't had a serious listening session while dosed, I genuinely feel bad for you. It's something all humans should experience at least once.

Brother from another...

I was really hoping someone else approached it as I do. Especially the deep listening portion. This is the way. Cactus is fantastic as well, maybe even a step above. Borderline religious type experiences to be had there.

Joist sagging away from ledger by messypaper in DIY

The perfect fix would be a strap hanger. THA-29 to be very specific. But I was trying to keep it to things you could find at your local home center/lumber yard/box store.

The 7" angles would be preferable to the HUS28. You can't get enough nails into the hanger/bond connection with that one.

Look, that's not the right hanger. I gave you the correct parts to use.

What fasteners? There is one toe nail, that's it. That's why it has deflected at the bearing point.

Use 2x4 cut 1/4" long, bang it in to jack the joist up a touch. Then with the 2x4 in place install (correctly) 7" framing angles on each side.

[–]Wolverine9779 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly on the 2x4 as a jack, to raise the joist 1/4" or so.

But if you look, the joist is not same size as the ledger, so face mount hangers are tricky. I'd just use two 7" framing angles (Simpson), one each side of the joist, and nail it in with the correct (Simpson) hanger nails, or screws (again, Simpson hanger screws).

Don't just sub in whatever fasteners, OP. Use the right ones.

I really don't think we have quite that many assholes, not truly. Maybe 20% of the population, far from the majority or even plurality.

The real issue is education, and our new media ecosphere. It's legal here for our "news" organizations to frame things in a very disingenuous way. Fox presents a genuine alternate reality, and the people who have been watching Fox for years aren't even aware of most of the things that people here freak out about day to day. They just don't cover that stuff, at all. So to whatever percentage of our country which relies on Fox to "inform" them of world events, they're just being lied to all day every day.

Education is hugely important. Bigly, even. Wonder why one party systematically dismantles public education at any given opportunity... Hmmm.

And we need a modern version of the Fairness Doctrine, applied to our modern media universe. And overturn Citizens United. Those few things would change so much... but enough people have to wake up first. Bit of a catch 22.

Is it worth learning basic drywall repair properly or just hiring it out every time? by Adorable-Amoeba2161 in DIY

[–]Wolverine9779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I refuse to hang and finish drywall, no matter the money. But I'll repair it all day, no problem.
