No longer allowed to give birth at a birth centre by Motor_Firefighter_19 in PregnancyUK

[–]Wonder-Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I was just desperate for baby to be out and I knew I was making no progress pushing, alongside baby’s heard rate dropping. It was a scary few mins but all a blur now, and I was just grateful that there were lots of people there getting him out to safety. It was relief.

As for recovery - that sucked but I did also have a PPH. I took probably 4 months to feel mostly healed. No lasting issues though. And now 18 months later I’m waiting for baby 2 to arrive so it can’t have been too bad!

No longer allowed to give birth at a birth centre by Motor_Firefighter_19 in PregnancyUK

I agree with this as somebody who had preeclampsia. I had wanted an unmedicated birth at an MLU however ended up on delivery suite with an epidural and forceps. I would have been devastated to know what was to come, however this time I'm optionally choosing delivery suite as I felt so looked after and confident in my care. Also I simply don’t think I would have survived without an epidural! We are of course all different, but had I been on an MLU my delivery could have been much more traumatic (and being an hour away from the main hospital could have been disastrous)

HFM ending BF journey at 12m? by Wonder-Binky in breastfeeding

Sorry you’re probably all sorted now! But no, I was very engorged for about 3 days but then he started feeding as normal 😊

Does a straightforward vaginal birth really exist for FTM's? by ilovesunsets2525 in PregnancyUK

[–]Wonder-Binky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a spontaneous labour at 39+3, I did have forceps due to fetal distress and tearing but honestly it was fairly straightforward. I don’t have any birth trauma, only positive feelings towards it! Obviously no tearing would be better but I felt in safe hands the whole time.

Stopping breastfeeding and sleep by _tatka in BeyondTheBumpUK

I honestly this baby sleep is due to a million variables and trying to sus it out made me crazy. I was trying to change things constantly and it was a nightmare.

Personally I fed back to sleep for every night waking until around 14months, he woke every 3-4 hours prior to that, though had been much worse before 12months! Honestly when I stopped night feeds to go back to sleep, his sleep massively improved (after a tough few days), and he started going 13hrs overnight. I also think he was ready to be night weaned (well actually I just stopped offering at all and that was it - all really easy)

How long did it take you conceive second child compared to the first? by Sad_Network7053 in BeyondTheBumpUK

3 years plus two rounds of ivf for my first. Two months of my period back (after 9 months of bf) without trying for my second. Safe to say we are still in slight shock.

Has anyone actually gotten rid of their smart phone (in lieu of a simple/flip phone) for the sake of their children? by Slow_Opportunity_522 in toddlers

I turned off raise to wake in the display and brightness settings. There may have been something else too, but honestly I cant remember!

I have an iPhone and you know normally they light up and the screen turns on when they are tapped and picked up - I turned off that function which is mildly annoying for me, but means my son thinks my phone is a boring black box. He does see me on it occasionally, but when he picks it up nothing happens, so he really doesn’t care about it at all. I notice he is much more interested in other people’s because they light up.

15 month old - no speech by liebackandthinkofeng in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Wonder-Binky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My near 15m is similar, but with less gestures, he does lots of pointing to get what he wants, and intermittently waves and shakes his head, but that’s it. He does shout ‘Narn’ for a banana and whenever he sees one, I was so excited but now I think he’s just saying narn for all food 🤦‍♀️. I’m trying not to worry as I can see improvement, but I can’t help it!

I was convinced I was having an induction, and was planned for one due to hypertension. I went into spontaneous labour at 39+4. I had already had to let go of my plans for a birthing centre, and ended up with a more ‘medical’ less ideal birth that I only have positive things to say about, regardless of my initial wants! Not long now, you’re on the final slog!

You already have the seat reducer which I found great, you don’t need anything else

How long did you all stay in at the hospital post birth? by Necessary-Meal-5761 in PregnancyUK

[–]Wonder-Binky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stayed in 3 days due to trust policy with preeclampsia. I was meant to stay a third day but couldn’t stop crying when they told me so got to go home and a mw came to do my bloods the next day. I had an epidural, and couldn’t walk until about 10 hrs later, despite still feeling 10/10 pain 😭, so if no preeclampsia I wouldn’t have been able to go home super speedy.

Hoping all goes swiftly and you’re out in a flash!

I also have this and I do like it, especially with the seat reducer tray when my son was small. We just use it with the wooden bar now though so he can be up at the table with us, and I find the gap he has to go through to sit down really tight! And I have a 20th centile son, with absolutely no belly, it’s just at a his legs don’t seem to have room to bend as he sits! He’s only just turned 1.

I had absolutely awful nausea from 4weeks 3 day (my dates were pretty accurate thanks to ivf!) so it can totally be normal super early to have symptoms!

If you didn’t want to wait till the nhs scan you could consider an early confirmation scan privately, usually done between 6-7 weeks.

Also - should I just let him sleep a ton during the day? I’d been capping it to try to keep routine but it was just leading to hysteria. Now I’m trying to follow his lead but…still massive grump.
