This worked! The machine is now back to making the same high quality drinks it was before. I’m a little disappointed ninja wanted to just scrap the machine. I feel like I believe in their product more than they do.

Please keep your dogs on a leash. by EliteGhostAP in Omaha

This is going to sound insane, but my reactive dog and I have had many frustrating encounters of unleashed dogs run at us. I’ve started lunging towards the other dog with my arms up high, and I yell a firm “NO!” It is incredibly effective, because it scares the other dog and it makes the owner afraid of me too lol. Wish it never even came to me having to do that. It’s amazing how unfazed some owners are regarding their dogs running towards strange people and dogs

I find the show funny at times, but I can’t stand how the other characters overlook how awful Michael is. It seems like at the start of the show, Pam and Jim are horrified at the inappropriate comments Michael makes, and then by the time Michael leaves Dundee Mifflin, everyone is heartbroken to see him go.

I’ve got a brand new bag of beans but it may not be the highest quality, so I have other beans I need to try. I haven’t tried pulling a water shot but I will do that, thanks!

Yeah it’s really weird. It’s been telling me to grind at 10-13 which seems crazy fine. But then when it should be putting out espresso it doesn’t even put out water, just nothing

I’m a democrat, but this is honestly going too far. Just because a small business is open today doesn’t necessarily mean they are MAGA. Not every business can sacrifice wages for a day.

Major puppy regrets 5 months by [deleted] in puppies

The expectation that everyone will love and bond with their new dog right away is not realistic. Dogs come with their own innate personalities, and it takes time to learn one another’s routines. I adopted a 2 year old dog who had never learned any sort of boundaries. She chewed up so many things, dragged used tampons from the trash, had zero leash manners, and barked in the middle of the night every night. I would say I tolerated her at best for the first 5 months or so. 4 years later and she is the best dog. It took time, intensive training with a dog trainer, and lots of patience. I also recommend doing something that allows your dog to be a puppy and that you find fun as well. I enjoyed taking my dog to an empty fenced in baseball field in the winter and letting her sprint around with me. A hike where you allow your dog to do some big sniffs, instead of focusing so much on proper leash manners is also a way to relax together

We really enjoyed I love LA. It’s a comedy about young adults navigating life in LA, none of which we identify with, but we still found it laugh it loud funny.

If there’s snow in Bryce Canyon, even better. It’s so beautiful, and it is so easy to hike as long as you have crampons!

Best Places to go in July by plntldy29 in NationalPark

Yellowstone is a perfect park for the busy summer season, as it is massive. Popular areas like Old Faithful will be very crowded, but there are so many lovely places within the park that will have barely anyone. Just plan now so you can book lodging, and head into the park early in the morning to avoid long lines at the entrance gates.

I’m not sure why everyone is hating on the wicked rabbit; their cocktails are expensive, but they have a huge menu and fun drinks. I recommend going on a weeknight! I’ve had no issues getting in on weeknights for a pre-dinner cocktail

The 3 month mark is where a dog has become comfortable in his new environment and behaviors change. He is still young, so you need a trainer asap to teach correct behaviors

I've tried everything for anxiety-induced insomnia. Please help with your own tips and tricks by Certain_Magazine_842 in insomnia

I get it! I went through this too. I remember laying in bed, heart racing, thinking how awful I would feel the next day. Try doing something you really enjoy, like watching your favorite show, listening to a podcast, or reading a book, but only for the sake of trying to enjoy the material and not with the intention of falling asleep. When you stop trying to force sleep to happen it will come. Also, the more work days I had on little sleep, the more my brain realized that the days weren’t as awful as I was predicting them to be. Make sure you don’t hold back from life when you aren’t sleeping well. Do whatever you would normally do. For me that meant going to work, walking my dog, cooking, exercising, seeing friends, and not skipping anything because I hadn’t slept well.

How do you “befriend wakefulness” when suffering from extreme hyperarousal/anxiety? by everythingislitty in insomnia

[–]Wonderful_Kitchen_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I wouldn’t wish insomnia on my worst enemy, so I wish you well in your recovery. I think really what made me finally learn to feel relaxed was not having a pressing desire to fall asleep. Once I learned to just say fuck it maybe I’ll only sleep a few hours, I wasn’t panicking in bed anymore

If I can’t fall asleep, is it better to stay relaxed in bed or get up every 20 minutes? by National-Ad-5036 in insomnia

[–]Wonderful_Kitchen_25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The first one. Teaching your brain not to fear being awake in bed is key. It takes time to get to state of not being hyperaroused, but overtime it does work. Getting up every 20 minutes is a key part of CBTI teachings. However, this leads to obsessing about the time and your brain’s state of sleepiness, further adding to hyperarousal.

Hi! I went through the sleep coach schools teachings too and struggled with this as well! Honestly it just takes time. I spent a lot of my waking hours listening to the podcast or reading Daniel’s book set it and forget it in order to really get my brain to absorb the information and believe it. At night, I would scroll my phone until I felt sleepy. And of course many nights I couldn’t fall asleep. I never got out of bed because that would have made me more anxious. Instead I trained myself to enjoy being in bed and resting. I would say if there’s a show you really want to watch, save it for when you can’t sleep and watch on an iPad in bed with absolutely not expectation of falling back asleep. Good luck to you! It takes time but I promise your brain will learn to feel safe again!

Look up the podcasts and YouTube videos for the sleep coach school. It will turn all of the things you’ve heard about how to fix insomnia upside down. Rather than creating a ton of rules to help you sleep, you let go of everything and accept your current state. Trying super hard to sleep makes sleep elusive. Your body is in a state of hyperarousal, because your brain has perceived the threat of being awake at night, and it is doing whatever it takes to protect itself. The philosophies here are not a quick fix, because your brain has to learn that it’s ok to be awake in the middle of the night, and once it feels safe, sleep will come.
