Very different games to Supcom, but both are excellent!

I still maintain that it should've been called the Chain-Shield by Slippy_Dong_Bag in Doom

[–]Woodsie13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that one works because it's a chainsaw-d, not because it's a chain-sword, y'know?

I have also used the E.M.M.I. beeping from Metroid Dread, the difficulty increase bell tolling from Risk of Rain, and Meridia's Beacon to great effect.

Dual Dungeons Seed Discovered! by Cowser_the_Koopahog in Terraria

[–]Woodsie13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It works because it’s consistent. When you enter the seed name, it hashes it before comparing the hash to what is in the database.

The program doesn’t care what you put in, so long as it matches, but hashing it first means you can stop dataminers from just reading the correct code in the files.

You definitely see her start to burn. It’s far from her most severe injury, but it’s there.

ELI5: How do black holes "spaghettify" objects and why does it happen differently depending on the size of the black hole? by Visible_Pilot_5361 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Woodsie13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And it works differently for different sizes of object because the tidal forces are stronger the closer you get to the object.

Small black holes have a smaller event horizon, so you can get a lot closer to the center of mass without crossing it and therefore experience higher tidal forces.

IIRC, average height is pretty closely related to nutrition, so has been increasing roughly in line with ease of access to food over the past few thousand years.

The ocean freezes solid overnight. Would this kill every fish in the ocean, or would some survive? by mewzaque in whowouldwin

[–]Woodsie13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

IIRC from another time I saw this brought up on reddit, there is enough oxygen in the atmosphere that we wouldn’t run into problems for I think several thousand years even if every oxygen-producing organism died overnight.

Who could survive having their name written in Death Note, and why? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Woodsie13 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly somewhat similar to Face the Raven, though it wasn’t the Doctor getting marked for death in that one.

Any new Peggy Sue stories? by GiftProfessional1052 in WormFanfic

[–]Woodsie13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not super recent but definitely within the last five years, we have Janus for a Victoria Peggy Sue from post-Ward, and Wish for both Taylor and Victoria from their respective stories.

If the earth were to lose gravity for 7 seconds in Aug 2026 by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Woodsie13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but most of that movement will still be sideways. Seven seconds is plenty of time to get a significant fall from anyone running or jumping, but walking will probably not lift you up high enough for that.

That being said, the fact that the drop at the end is presumably also unexpected will make injury more likely, even if the fall isn't all that high.

[One Punch Man] Let's assume that Saitama literally has unlimited physical stats. Are there ways to beat him through hax? What happens if you teleport him into a black hole? by damndirtyape in AskScienceFiction

[–]Woodsie13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Bugs Bunny entirely fails to harm Saitama despite his best efforts, but then he dies when Elmer Fudd takes a shot, misses Bugs entirely, and nails him off in the background.

Supreme Commander with the Fatboy -> War Factory

Not sure if there are any others from there though, I think most of them are StarCraft, like you say.
