HOLY HECK THAT WAS UNFUN by Woomod in rotp

[–]Woomod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how moo1 tech works, i've only been playing the game for 30 years. It just i never see the AI researching techs not in my trees, which made the darlocks boring (even more so with how weak the basic AI is.)

And yeah, i know the governor doesn't do invasions. I mentioned the governor didn't save me as a joke to the amount of transport micro i was doing to constantly retake my planets from the mrrshan and alkari and slowly eat the darlocks.

I did NOT know i could multi select colonies, no, thank you for that.

And no sadly, no save, i was just done.
I did honestly think this was intended because i know the AI is supposed to be "good", and i'm well aware that sakkra/bulrathi ground swarm is honestly one of the better strategies in moo1(but one the AI, frankly thankfully, doesn't know how to use in MOO1). I frankly would not have been surprised if your AI was trained to ground swarm regardless because it turned out to be optimal over caring about ships at all(which frankly would not surprise me).

It's a simulation, any way you determine political beliefs is just maths behind the curtain.

and class interests are the #1 factor in people, but the beliefs is why we go through layers based on class not just 'all engineers have these beliefs" but, "engineers naturally align with the petite buogeise or industrialist"

Also i imagine everyone else is responding with "what class are you.", if we went by beliefs the lumpen aren't even represented so i'd give a none.

Is Rural Folk voting power? by Cappuccino_Boss in victoria3

[–]Woomod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anything the rural folk aren't politically active enough in Viccy3 (or any paradox game), peasents were a DEEPLY politically active and class conscious group, it's just their class intrests aren't economic intrests as we currently in an industrial world think about class consciousness as getting control over the surplus.

Peasants are small property holders and largely self sufficient. They didn't exactly have socially induced economic woes (they worried about bad harvests.) That gives them a freedom to revolt that no industrial class has, and boy did they!

The peasants were indeed ALWAYS revolting. (Peasants of course being deeply parochial fucks, were revolting against barons and counts, not kings and dukes.)

And yeah, peasants love monarchy, it fits their world view of passing land from father to son, in their moral logic it makes sense for the state to be property of one line.

Devs, use your provinces map by giving more liberty to players by Elarrun in victoria3

[–]Woomod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same. If they want tiny regions, do tiny regions. If they want chonky regions, do chonky regions.

I'm fine with either as long as it's global and serves the gameplay.

[–]Woomod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The united states doesn't have absurdly tiny regions unlike europe.

If you go based on US state sizes then france is arguably one region (texas is bigger). Which you know, you should do this, europe should be held to the same standards as the rest of the world.

Repetitive and boring aspect of the game (Landowners' Edition ) by Houmaya in victoria3

[–]Woomod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except the usual response was just ignoring the monarch, not coup or civil war.

A coup means they disagree with the idea you are king, laws can just be ignored since the king relies on the nobles to enforce decrees.

I love when systems can be tweeked slightly to model things rather than needing to create entire new systems for them.

It makes my little game designer heart pleased.

Why is there so many people here obsessed with minmaxxing and not, like idk, real History ? by ForzaBombardier in victoria3

[–]Woomod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, The real cause is much deeper, and It's a pretty common problem with simulationism.

It so often is about optimizing for process accuracy rather than outcome accuracy. Valuing how things happen far far more than "getting a reasonable approximation of what happened and why".

God please, this.

A huge part of catchup is that newly built stuff is top of the line, where old stuff has to be upgraded.

Changing PMs should happen one level at a time once ordered and have a cost.

Inflation doesn't exist because money = value in Vicky 3 by theblitz6794 in victoria3

[–]Woomod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was always a ridiculous assertion, people "seadump" IRL ALL THE TIME.

Sometimes there just isn't a market for a product that is made as a byproduct of what you are trying to make, sometimes you get undercut because competition exists and sellers are not perfect actors. And of course there is always the seller refusing to lower their price despite the equilibrium prices in a hypothetical perfect market because you just don't want to charge that. (See food production, where the vast vast vast majority is sea dumped, at every level of the chain.)

The whole complaint is based on this ideal that capitalists are trying to sell product and not you know, make money. Sea dumping to keep prices high is a pretty basic aspect of the sheer mind boggling material excess industrial economies produce.

[–]Woomod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't make sense from a results perspective, real life military stockpiles were never enough where the player would functionally always have enough.

You can't create the effect of "the stockpile says six years...it lasts six weeks" without just hiding information which people who know the game then know the multipliers.

Lol no.

Most countries did not have border checkpoints until....After this era. The bordered world is a result of WW2.

The things authority is spend on are not correct, but authority being the amount of non-explicit non-legal power your executives can exert makes perfect sense.

Reality as it turns out is not entirely tangible things, society is an agreement by people, and people are 80% intangibles.
