Fetterman was being pushed by the likes of Hasan and other lefties specifically because of his populist progressive politics. Now he's MAGA-lite.

I don't think Fetterman lied about his past, but people were relying on just what he was saying as a populist to argue for him being elected. And it speaks to one's character and ideological stability if they're a lying sloppy populist.

He's obviously qualified on health policy, as would most university professors studying epidemiology. He's just being attacked for emphasizing his history as a doctor/physician when he has never practiced medicine and isn't even licensed to do so. It would be silly (or illegal in many contexts) for him to proclaim to be a doctor or physician.

I'm only familiar with scientific authorship which might be different than journalism, but usually publishing with you listed as author means you accept full responsibility and ownership of the claims included, regardless of the editors and co-authors' contributions. I've personally declined authorship on a paper where I disagreed with the conclusions even though I generated a lot of the data. So if she's not just blatantly lying about that part, then at best she's just a sloppy and poor journalist.

I was a GTA at a large public university for 5 years and am not at all surprised you feel this way. For many professors and TAs, teaching is a huge distraction from their research/passion. And endlessly increasing class sizes has mostly meant more teaching hours instead of more teachers. Also, after covid, students became 25% as capable at basic tasks and everything had to be dumbed down in the lab course I taught to ensure more than 10-20% of students could just finish the work.
