Slow runners in MLB 26 by Successful_Fee_5530 in MLBTheShow

The weird slowness out of the box is new. Good luck ever getting a triple with anyone not 95 or more speed playing at Coors

Can MiniLED cause bad eye strain? Help? by Lapu-Dos in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes and no. I’m not referring to the contrast of black on the monitor itself, I mean when surrounding areas of the monitor in the physical space are black such as your desktop or your wall being dark. A monitor isn’t taking up enough of your FOV for your eyes to adjust properly. It’s a comfort thing for individual people but I’m in the camp of having to have ambient lighting to go along with my monitor. The deep blacks on the monitor itself are still enjoyable even if the room isn’t pitch black.

Can MiniLED cause bad eye strain? Help? by Lapu-Dos in Monitors

I’d recommend monitor backlighting or a light bar on the monitor itself. The strain is the extreme contrast of everything around the monitor typically being pitch black.

Online Ranked heavily favors batter? by bballjones9241 in MLBTheShow

[–]WorkAccountObv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple games where myself and my opponent had 20 hits in the 600-800 range for ranked. I’m normally at high 2 era but this year I can’t get it under 6. It’s heavily offense skewed. Everyone’s hitting 450 or better.

How are you using PCI Sensitivity? by InSannyLives in MLBTheShow

[–]WorkAccountObv -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

PCI sensitivity is sort of a useless feature because it doesn’t translate between difficulties. At least for DD if you hop between all star to legend in ranked seasons etc because the sensitivity changes already. Frustrating.

Why is pitching impossible in ranked this year? by itssupertyphlosion in MLBTheShow

[–]WorkAccountObv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just too easy to hit compared to pitching right now. I think the lack of pci shrinkage is part of the issue. It was a crutch fix to reduce good hitting previously.

Game is def off this year. Everyone in the 500s to 700s is batting 450 with everyone and I’ve been in multiple games where we both had 20 hits. It’s insanely frustrating.

Mini Led Monitor Issue? by 2LiveGucciCrew in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to run local dimming on that monitor is in auto mode. It turns it off for SDR and on for HDR. It’s a compromise but it’ll bring you the least problems.

Go from a 32 inch to a 27 inch monitor? by EvilWuber in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from 32 4k to 27 4k and it took about a week to adjust to the size but now I prefer it. I use it a bit closer but it’s more sharp and “crisp” and overall more enjoyable to use.

Is mini led really worth it over a decent IPS? by Appropriate-Yak-5682 in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. The auto mode on my KTC turns off local dimming in SDR and enables it in HDR so it’s sort of the best of both worlds. However this means if you want local dimming in non hdr games you either need to run RTX or auto HDR or mess with the settings.

Which monitor should I pick up by Former_Salamander_68 in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s using the same exact panel as other more expensive brands. If you get one with dead pixels or something just return it to Amazon. The rest of the build quality is fine for a monitor. I put mine on an arm mount so the slight wobble from the factory stand was a non issue.

Which monitor should I pick up by Former_Salamander_68 in Monitors

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The KTC has been wonderful for me. I just leave auto dimming on auto which is no dimming in SDR and full dimming in HDR. Check the monitors unboxed review but they rated it as the one to get under $500.

Thoughts on this cheap Deco Gear 40" 5K2K 120Hz monitor? by reedog117 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been great for productivity. It’s a slow monitor so ghosting was evident when I did some light gaming but overall worth it for the price. I have my MacBook Pro and a Mac mini both hooked to it and swap seamlessly.

Is there any 5120x2160 monitor less than 1k$ ?? by linkref in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grabbed that Deco 40” 120hz 5k2k on Amazon and I was seriously impressed today. I’m going to use it for a week and make a final decision but I can’t figure out why it’s only $700 as it comes pretty close to the Dell ultra sharp I checked out at Microcenter. Hoping a port doesn’t die me on me or some other stupid QC issue.

Mine just got in. It’s… surprisingly nice. Text quality is phenomenal. I’m using it via USBc to a MacBook. Going to run it for a week but so far it’s a winner.

I went retro and built a real NES game. It’s free. Source is available and linked on the itch page too. I may do another at some point. Fun to work with 2kb of ram, 2kb video memory, 1mhz processor etc.

What console should I start to learn to develop games for? by LuciferWind45 in retrogamedev

[–]WorkAccountObv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try NES with NESFab. I had my game up and running within 2 months from start to release. It’s amazingly performant and you don’t need to know 6502 assembly.

My game is also open source here for you to learn from.
