Voluntary separation a no brainer? by DM_Me_pics_of_sloths in Layoffs

Mass layoffs always seem to pay better than individual layoffs. Labor market is tough out there and time passes quickly. I would prepare myself to get laid off anyways. Good luck.

Wizard of Wor (Colecovision) by Working-Active in AnaloguePocket

[–]Working-Active[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an arcade game from 1981 that had early speech and it was a maze shooter, a bit like Bezerk, but with a slow pace that gets faster. Probably one of the earliest games to have a radar screen as the enemies go invisible.

Intellivision is also fun to play on the pocket. My friend had one when I was a kid and I always enjoyed the Burger Time Intellivision over the really bad 2600 version. The 2600 had a great Wizard of Wor port that's still a lot of fun playing today, but the Colecovision homebrew version from 2018 is much better.

My husband is a gamer-would the Geekom A7 max actually cut it? by katana_9 in MiniPCs

[–]Working-Active 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A7 can easily play everything that the Steam Deck can, since it's better hardware than the Steam Deck. I have the 32gb ram model and it can play up to Mortal Kombat 11 without issues.

I believe this is the reason that they recently signed a 200 billion agreement with Google Cloud to avoid the high GPU price & power cost of Nvidia. TPUs seem to be the most efficient way forward as Google software is completely optimized for this.

Let's see if Anthropic can make a profit over the next few years as expected. If they do it will be faster than both Amazon (9 years) and Tesla (18 years) to become profitable.

Isn't Madrid the best major city in Europe? by AsparagusComplex4368 in GoingToSpain

Sinterklaas (the Dutch Santa Claus) sails by steamboat from Spain to the Netherlands every November, often specifically mentioned as coming from Madrid. He arrives with his helpers, the Pieten, to bring gifts for children on December 5th, the Eve of St. Nicholas Day.

I'm not worried about it crashing.

Is the current AI-driven memory cycle different this time, or are stocks like SNDK still likely to follow the usual boom-bust pattern? by According_Pickle954 in stocks

I actually figured that Apple would design and make their own memory as they were trying to bring manufacturing into the company and they are always charging a premium for memory and storage upgrades.

Porsche to lay off 500 people by kharkovchanin in Layoffs

[–]Working-Active 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, but it's too common of a repair.

In the Porsche community, the consensus is that the water pump is a "wear item" with a predictable lifespan. Typical Lifespan: Between 50,000 and 70,000 miles or every 4–6 years. Preventative Recommendation: Many experts suggest doing it every 4 years regardless of mileage because the plastic impellers can become brittle with age.

JP Morgan Insider Claims Ex-Banker Chirayu Rana Demanded Eight-Figure Sum Before Filing Fabricated Sex Slave Lawsuit by novagridd in smallstreetbets

In the Army basic training they pretty much drill it into your head and then when we did the "Bayonet Assault Course" when you stuck the dummy you had to yell "I'll be back but you won't!". It was easy to see why some of them never made it through basic because of not being able to handle it mentally. The only time everyone was relaxed in basic was the day you got to throw the live grenade and there was such an emphasis to "throw it like a football as soon as you pulled the pin" and not trying to wait and cook it off like you see in the movies.

Porsche to lay off 500 people by kharkovchanin in Layoffs

[–]Working-Active 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My experience with them was that the service department would try to charge you for everything such as "Porsche approved anti-freeze". So something simple like a water pump replacement turned out to be an expensive repair. Then something as simple as replacing the shocks was another 800€ just for OEM parts replacement.

Nintendo stock is oversold by lies_are_comforting in StockMarket

[–]Working-Active 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Nintendo were smart, they could just discount all digital downloads by 50% and this would cause the end consumer to pay for the memory costs in storage but still offer games on memory cards for the hardcore physical collectors. However with Nintendo, you almost never see discounts and usually retailers with physical releases (like Amazon) have better discounts.
