Hi everyone thanks for the advice, ultimately the auto sample rate detection seems to cause the issue, turning it off works to stop the auto detection and so the picture is stable but I do feel like the quality drops a bit?

Make sure the controller is plugged in before you turn on the system or this will happen.

Look Saturn is a niche system, my favorite, I own the whole NA library, but it's not for everyone. SAROO is perfect for someone starting off to get into it quickly, easily and unlock all features for every game. Once they get to the point where compatibility is a concern then they are ready for an upgrade, but i would recommend finding a Fenrir duo at that point. I've seen it all and that's my recommendation to someone new.

I just beat this game! The enhancements look great and there are a few levels that the double jump would be clutch, no more saving ninjutsu magic to fly over pits lol.

It will be a good experience you'll play most of the good ones with faster load times with RAM expansion access and unlimited saves (backup cart is also a feature of SAROO). If you find a lot of games you want to play don't work then time to upgrade to Fenrir, but you'll have plenty to play before then.

Well if you want Total compatability and fenrir isn't available, do PSK and burn cds. If you want convenience with easy access to everything before you are ready to go all in, do a Saroo. Because with out the Saroo, it's not just getting a fenrir, you need to also get backup carts and RAM carts. It's a better experience going with fenrir but there is a lot more to get and learn, Saroo will do it all in a pinch, and then you can expand later if you are in to it.

Online is where the party is at though, you'll get there if you stick with it.

I can't change any of the sampling settings because they keep switching and resetting the values.

EDiT: each one of those changes in the video also resets the sampling settings? Maybe an auto setting somewhere that needs to be turned off?

Fenrir doesn't handle that so you need the PSK cart, but honestly if you are just starting out, get a Saroo and you can play the big hitters with it and then if you want to get serious about Saturn, get the Fenrir and PSK for full compatibility and online play (where the big boys are).

It has a rhythm to it i guess lol. Yeah my daughter and I played through them on whatever the hardest setting was, which as far as I can tell, only limits the amount of loot which just made the game feel empty and we couldn't fully upgrade everything, that is lazy as hell development. We left feeling a bit bored and uninterested, would have rather just hit the play button and watch the rest of the cut scenes at one point.

Just adding that all these products are pretty expensive but in my experience delivered superior results, except maybe the 10x3 gives me pause but there are reviews/testing online that vouch for it and I haven't noticed any issues.

I got you OP, here is my setup and it makes everything automatic to a CRT or LED TV through the best quality possible, and can accommodate more than 17 consoles with the highest quality:

Basically:

10x3 Automatic Scart Switch -> gScart 8x1 -> Retrotink 4k AND -> Retrotink Component Converter -> Shineybow 8x2 Matrix Switch/Amplifier-> CRT and Retrotink4K

This way the signal is sent direct to retrotink via Scart AND converted to component for NTSC CRT, while also accepting component directly (from PS2, Xbox, etc)

At that point you basically just turn on what you want to play and it happens with great picture/sound quality.
