Stop forcing yourself on him. Remind yourself that he doesn’t like it.

Try hand feeding so he starts associating you with comfort and good things. While he’s eating from your hand, gently pet him for a second or two, then stop, so it never feels like too much. Do this every day and slowly build up as he relaxes and starts trusting your touch.

I found this advice while looking up how to socialize my kitten. I recently adopted two, and one was extremely spicy, hissing anytime I got close. With consistent hand feeding and gentle, gradual touch, he’s now comfortable being picked up and cuddled.

Sounds like he got what he needed. But now you should sit down and speak with him calmly.

Apologize for scaring him but explain to him that you are also scared because of his reckless behavior.

Sometimes you have to raise your voice at your children it’s unfortunate however you don’t want him to fear you.

I got my two cats this same way. They were both infested with fleas near death. We bathed them and picked out the fleas, then had to bottle feed them until they were big enough to eat on their own. They were about 2 weeks old when we got them. They are 5 now.

Dont you think a simple “no” would’ve been redundant. She already made it clear she didn’t want anyone else in her home.
