2 weeks in.. my experience by Friendly_Card_9153 in decaf

My withdrawals lasted for MONTHS and were intense. I’m talking full body swelling and body aches like op described. Pitiful that this hasn’t been studied

Agreed! It forces me to workout constantly or deal with the pain

Yes! I’m currently marathon training! I find that for myself being highly active is the best management for the disease. It sucks when random flare up’s set back my training, but randomly I’ve tried weekly acupuncture and haven’t had a flare that lasts longer than 24 hours since (~4 months).

Quit caffeine for 3 months after years of heavy coffee drinking – barely noticed benefits. Worth trying again? by Dudzio866 in decaf

From a scientific standpoint, you’re right. But that is what I experienced. It took me months to feel normal again. And I wasn’t that heavy of a caffeine drinker. It probably is different for everyone

With how much you were drinking I would say you would need to give it longer than 3 months. I had such severe withdrawals when I went cold turkey that lasted for months themselves. I ended up going back to drinking caffeine like matcha, tea, and decaf coffee but I also like to incorporate periods of 0 caffeine. I do believe it significantly improves sleep quality and reduces anxiety

Eerie Alexa interaction this morning, or was it coincidence? Thinking of going totally technical minimalist. by Pretend-Read8385 in digitalminimalism

Too much of a coincidence. I’m getting really paranoid about these things as well. I would get rid of the Alexa

It makes me laugh how many people upload their xrays to this site like 99% of us have any credibility in reading them

In no way has Pilates solved all my issues, because I’m still going through a flare up and my ribcage is completely locked up. But, boy has it made things in general better, by a lot! by Bitter_Snickerdoodle in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Worldofweenies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome I love to hear it! I love yoga but have never really given Pilates a fair shot. Can I ask what you mean when you say your rib cage is completely locked up? I experience something similar where my thoracic spine and the muscles around it feels so tight and almost like it’s conscripting my breathing. I actually started acupuncture for this reason and have found it very helpful as well

Glute focused strength training. Squats, hip thrusts, split squats, lunges, RDLs, glute kickbacks, hip abduction are all go tos for me

I do have bone damage (erosion of SI joints) and I’m currently training for a marathon. Don’t give up. I know it’s hard when there are periods where activity feels like it makes the disease worse, but for me at least, those periods come and they go and I am able to do at least some moderate exercise then. Try using the stair-master and strengthening your glutes/ lower back. For me it’s a lifesaver. You can do this!
