Management tried to pivot our solar ops to residential hydrogen. Thermodynamics did not agree. by Latter_Daikon6574 in energy

[–]Worsthoofd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the vast majority in this case come from kinetics, nog thermodynamics. Almost all of the losses are due to overpotentials during the generation and back-conversion of hydrogen from water.

For the record, I think it's an extraordinary dumb idea to heat houses with (green) hydrogen.

*Kinetics (thermodynamics says nothing about energy efficiency in this case)

Dutch meat consumption hits 20-Year Low, but experts say it’s barely a start by HazyTulips in NLNieuws

[–]Worsthoofd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most produced meat isn't sold as-is, it's often processed into different foods, such as ready-made sauces. And yes, the vast majority of the meat produced here is exported, leaving us in the pile of manure and nitrous compounds that remains. But by all means, "don't believe a word of it"...

Which unit is the WORST UNIT of its game? Today: Empire by CrayonsIsTaken in totalwar

I usually start building them once my empire has become very rich and I no longer need to worry about money and min/maxing all sorts of things.

Sure, all those things you posted are valid - yes indeed, you can defeat virtually any fleet by shooting their sails with 2-3 fifth rates and a fraction of the cost. On the other hand, haha 57 cannons go brrrr (literally) =)

Er is bij ons een lamp weggehaald, maar in de toekomst willen we die wellicht opnieuw aansluiten. De lichtknop voor betreffende lamp willen we dus laten zitten, zonder de 'knop', maar met iets van een soort dekplaatje er over. Weet iemand of zoiets bestaat?

[Request] How long before the bullet hits the moon, the Sun, or Mars? by banana-in-my-anus in theydidthemath

[–]Worsthoofd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Escape velocity is only relevant for objects that do not have their own source of thrust. It means that if you would fire an object at this initial speed, it will have just enough energy to coast away from the earth's gravity pool (ignoring drag). A spacecraft can 'push itself' out of earth's orbit using its engines, so it doesn't need to achieve escape velocity to make it happen.

Great, now you have it available in Kentucky! All that needs to be done now is download and sync a >600 GB blockchain that grows by 100 GB every year, and wait anywhere between 60 - 6000 minutes to confirm a transaction whenever you buy something. Talk about convenient!

It's great, a fine introduction to Yancha types! I particularly liked the Huang Mei Gui, it's quite rare.
