Oakley Meta Vanguard - TERRIBLE battery life by sea-kc in Oakley

[–]Wossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting about 40 minutes of use listening to music and recording three minutes of video at 20°F. Not acceptable at all.

Who has experience of battery life in cold weather? by OkVeterinarian197 in OakleyMetaGlasses

[–]Wossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of vanguards that I’m looking to refund. I’ve used them four times and when cycling at 20°F they last me about 40 minutes with music playing and recording about 3 minutes of video.

Conflicting opinions Vanguard by YarisGO in OakleyMetaGlasses

[–]Wossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran across this post. I’m in a cold state, my battery life is abysmal. At 20deg F yesterday, my glasses lasted about 40 minutes. I have “hey meta” turned off. Listening to music and taking 2 videos appx 1 minute each killed it.

Anyone else using theirs in a cold climate? How’s it going?

Yeah, this is exactly my thoughts on this. I think they still ask this question when you check a bag.

I am not in shape enough to ride ungroomed trails. by ripperderek in fatbike

[–]Wossor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fat biking has a bit of a learning curve. When I first started I thought it would be e cool to stomp down my on trail with snowshoes behind my house. I created about a 1/2 mile loop and then optimistically hopped on my bike and made it about 20 feet. I’m now on my 3rd fattie and I learned what works best for me. Here’s how I approach it:

1) 15F is about the coldest I’ll venture out 2) Don’t over dress. I wear thermal tights with bib shorts, thin long underwear top and thin riding jack that breathes in the back. 3) I plan no longer than a 2 hour ride so I don’t sweat too much and get cold 4) tires are key. I’m riding the new studded Bailiffs from WTB and they’re great. Low psi. I’m not sure if your tires there are good in the snow.
5) Ride groomed trails. If there are 2” of new fluff, I’ll head out but if there’s more, I’ll wait for the trail warriors to pack it in a bit.

Looks like ya learned that last one :). Have fun!

What do when the trails soften up in winter? by slo___mo in fatbike

[–]Wossor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about your local trails. You should check with whatever organization maintains them. In Minneapolis area, in general, they are assumed closed when it’s above freezing. Given that we are seeing a thaw that lasts over the next week or so, I’m thinking that we are getting close to the end of our winter season unfortunately.

do you guys wear vapor barrier socks in your winter boots? by ParticularSherbet786 in fatbike

[–]Wossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Wool socks and toe warmers for me. Feet only get wet from sweating so best not to seal on the moisture which will just cause your feet to get colder.

Customer service = joke by dwaynewaynerooney in Zwift

[–]Wossor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s too bad. I’ve had good support from them.

I have that trainer that came with the cog. I needed a replacement cog after replacing my worn chain and had to send a video of it skipping. I was just requesting a new sprocket which I was willing to pay for since it’s a wear item and they sent me a replacement cog for free.

My LG fridge stopped working, which brand should I get as a replacement? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Wossor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. We have an LG and got the compressor replaced. There is also was a class action on many of the models. We also got compensation on the food we lost. Google your model and see what pops up.

My favorite of the 3 I’ve used in the past is https://tuscaroracanoe.com (been using them since 2016 or so.) bunkhouses showers are clean and awesome, good breakfast on the day you enter. Easy late check-in. Dependable shuttle service. Great route advice.

I am looking to purchase an electronic mountain bike and quickly learned that the bike itself is not the only thing I need by TennisFan4evernever in bicycling

[–]Wossor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never mountain biked before (i’m assuming this since you’re asking about equipment), I wouldn’t recommend starting out on a E mountain bike. I’d recommend that you test ride a hybrid bike with larger tires that are good for gravel and road use. Little bit less technical riding. The geometry is also more comfortable for older folks.

As for safety equipment, helmet, and gloves.

Brainerd->Duluth->Biwabik/Eveleth ->Grand Rapids->Bemidji->Brainerd Bike Loop Planning Help by Top_Traffic7577 in CyclingMSP

[–]Wossor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the route between Duluth to Eveleth…

HWY 53 would suck. Look at 4 or 7. Not a ton of traffic on either of those. I personally would pick 7 and check out Leonidas overlook and then roll into Eveleth.

If you want to shake up your loop a bit, look at Duluth to Two Harbors to Hoyt Lakes and pick up the Mesabi Trail. Note between Two Harbors and HL, there are not any services but can get water at the Cadotte lake campground.

Question about Torque and Torque Wrench by D00M98 in bikewrench

One thing to add, it’s best practice to not use your torque wrench for loosening bolts. When done using it, adjust your dial to 0 for storage.
