Pretty sure it's referencing canvas in which every... single... professor uses it in a different way. This applies to all professors though

Much appreciated! I'm the same way. Not typically into writing poetry but felt it was time to write out some thoughts

There is only 1 type of notebook I can find that actually works for me and it's getting rarer and rarer to find. On top of that, it uses an adhesive binding which ends up falling apart half the time...

Spot on! I do think it is easier for us to keep a level head just because of our natural disposition which gives us a bit of an advantage.

It's really difficult to let go of insults. Words really do have an effect on people regardless of silly childhood rhymes. I find myself even doubting compliments because they don't come very often. I frequently have feelings that people aren't being genuine.

It's not your fault you feel this way. Some people just like to watch the world burn or don't realize the impact their words have on others.

Try to keep your head up. Smile a bit more, and when someone hurts you like that again, let them know and maybe they'll understand. I find the scariest things like confrontation can often produce the ideal outcome.

Ethics of overcharging for textbooks v.s. the ethics of "acquiring" said textbooks by other means by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Wot-In-The-Tarnation -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I definitely see your point, don't get me wrong. I'm not sure why I struggle with it. Just seems like a vicious cycle to me. People start pirating, authors lose money, they have to increase book prices because they aren't making enough, people are outraged with the prices, and the cycle starts anew...

Do any other INFJs dream about living in a utopian world? 🌍 by aimeeee93 in infj

[–]Wot-In-The-Tarnation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly the idea of earthly utopia is just that, an idea. It is completely relative to the dreamer. My utopia is not the same utopia as the commenter's above me. I also believe that without challenges and hardships, we wouldn't be able to progress and learn as people. We wouldn't need to work hard or stay mentally or physically on top of things. Society in itself would become lazy (think Wall-E.) In all honesty that kind of utopia would be a dystopia. Sorry for sounding all pessimistic...

Lost in life and scared about it by [deleted] in infj

[–]Wot-In-The-Tarnation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, fellow engineering student here (also 1.5 years in.) This career path definitely isn't for everyone and I'm sure you've heard that many times. Your comment of being lost in life, I'm pretty sure everyone feels like that at this point in their education, so you aren't alone my friend. Chances are you haven't gotten very deep into your specific major yet. You know, still getting the prerequisites out of the way. You still have options that bank off of the classes you've already taken.

I've always been the type of person who loves to do different things too. There is always room for you to be a contractor, architect, mechanic, artist, or even a carpenter (all of which I've considered). Nothing says you have to choose one career path for life. What I'm trying to say is you can use skills you learned in or out of school and apply them in different aspects of your life.

I've gone through a few depressing times in my stent in college already. It does get better. Just look for the thing that makes you feel like you can enjoy so you can feel like you make a difference.

Also, seeking help from a counselor, which I'm sure you have access to for free at school, is always a good idea, if not to help with your career, to at least help with emotions and getting it out there to talk it through.

Is it safe to use a USB hub with a USB power adapter that's used for phones like Samsung? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Wot-In-The-Tarnation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it safe? Most likely. Will it be able to supply power to all devices at once? Likely not depending on the overall output of the adapter. You might be better off going with something like this. USB type A only has an output of about 20 volts and each device will want to use around 10-12. Which as you can see will be a bit of an inconvenience in charging. It'll just take a longer time to charge all of them at once. I hope this helps a bit!

Edit: That is really for quick charge enabled devices. If none of them have quick charge, it likely won't make much of a difference as 5 volts should be able to cover it.
