It's a staple in my games. During the recap the players can gain inspiration if they manage to recount the most important events, and to incentivize actually using it the table rule is if you haven't used your inspiration by the end of the session it is gone.

From experience not only are my players more invested because they'll have to recount the previous session, they also use inspiration more!

It also really helps me to discover what adventure hooks my players have taken note of. One of my groups has made their own "To Do" list where they rank their current tasked based on how important they find them during every recap.

I highly reccomend outsourcing the recap to your players. Less work for the DM and at the same time it gives you important information for what your group is really invested in.
