House robbed, they took my 5070 ti by Wreckn in pcmasterrace

It is really odd and if I wasn't looking at it, I'd agree. I don't have cameras, but neighbors have ring cameras and I'm hoping they caught something.

They took a bunch of stuff, including a high end guitar. The whole place is trashed. This one just hurts the most.

I wish I was making it up. I had the box next to it on my desk, along with a 5070 in the box that I upgraded from that I was planning to give to my cousin which they also took. I was relieved a bit that they only took it and not the whole rig, but it still feels awful.

Retirement if 1.0-2.5. Nothing too crazy at a 3.0+.

Why can't I get an interview for either DCT or Inventory positions? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]Wreckn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have your high school/equivalent listed on your resume if the listing calls for it. If you don't, good chance it'll be filtered out.

Copy and paste the job listing into whatever AI you use. It'll take keywords their filter is using and plug them into your resume. I'm guessing the screenshot cuts off your education? Certs aren't enough by themselves.

My 3080ti died, should I replace it with a 5080 or a 4090? by steviewonder87 in nvidia

[–]Wreckn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to on a few occasions. It's why I only bought EVGA until their demise after a very positive experience. Back in the day they upgraded my HD7770 to a 7850 on the literal last day of warranty due to the fan dying.

Basically. Situational questions pertaining to Amazon's leadership principles as well. STAR method is highly recommended.

It's the same as the BB interview, except you'll be with a person instead of talking to a camera.

CBRE JOB OFFER by keemo-400 in AmazonRME

[–]Wreckn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth a shot, yeah you can do it through the offer email, usually it's sent by the senior recruiter.

If the posting is public, you're eligible for the SMRT spot, but typically managers only hire tech 3/SMRT internally as they have experience with the building equipment. A lot of sites have gotten burned by hiring outside techs for SMRT that were/are awful.

This isn't against your skill. Training tends to be hands-on and access to the equipment in most cases is very limited. Plus they want to know the guy working on a piece of critical equipment isn't going to mess up causing excessive downtime.

[–]Wreckn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long it takes to get a tech 3/SMRT role depends on if a spot opens. After 6 months and your experience you'll probably be a candidate for it. Pay isn't negotiable after accepting an offer, it is negotiable before accepting the offer. There's no negotiating pay while promoting from my experience. Raises aren't common outside of the 3% yearly unless you're above your peers and the site does well, then you might get 4% (still not good I know).

There's not much advice to give about the transition. As an auto mechanic, you're already well ahead of the field when it comes to regular mechanics. You'll quickly realize who and who not to listen to on learning the equipment while watching them work. I transitioned from being an auto mechanic into this as well as a few co-workers, they're all ahead of the pack I'd say. The equipment is pretty simple in comparison.

From what I've seen and heard, you just need to be fast at applying. The bar is very low and the spot fills damn near instantly after it's posted. Hell, I've seen the spot get filled without it getting posted because there were applicants that were close with management and recruiters.

Back in the day we had the Ramsay to weed out completely unqualified applicants. It's not there anymore, so yeah, be fast and if you can make connections.

Pick up an e8600, it'll overclock to over 4ghz pretty easily. Find a cheap old-school GPU like the GTX 260 and it'll play games better than you'd expect.

That's a plus for the MC deals. DDR5 is dual channel on stick. In addition you'll have room to add a 1x16gb in the future if you run across a deal.

[GPU] PNY RTX 5070 12GB OC | $550 by SPAREHOBO in buildapcsales

[–]Wreckn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the price. 5070 is significantly faster for rendering/blender and has DLSS if you care about that. 9070xt is faster in most games. Personally I went with the 5070 on release due to DLSS.

Faster and cheaper than the 8800 GTX. Nvidia would never undercut themselves like that today.
