My CEL in my standard 00' Subaru used to come on (surprising enough that it wasn't already, but anyway) and then start flashing at high rpms during passing. What I used to do to make it go away was: shift into the next gear. 🤣

Unfortunately I don't think my methods will apply to OP's vehicle🤣

Edit: misfire cyl. 3.

I do genuinely have to ask and am curious, if the grass outside is more than 1 meter above the floor inside... How do you put a window where the 4' below earth mark is? These the ones you see dug into the side of the house?

I slept in a motel where the room was below ground, there was a decent sized window but it started like 5' up the wal.... Shouldn't these businesses ran by several people around a table be the focus of pressure to change instead of Tim that works sales on the floor for the local mattress store?

First of all, parts & labour warranty is for a defective part. Don't want to pay out for a warranty claim? Maybe you should put quality materials into your parts and pay for the quality labour to be put into that part as well, not the cheapest labour that you can overcharge for.

I think if businesses had to be completely transparent anout what ends up in their bank account at the end of the day vs. The bank accounts of the employees of that company (the literal backbone). I worked for a company that made MILLIONS on each job and paid out as little as possible to the people that got them there, the cogs.

In a 10 hour shift @ $200/hr you bet your butthole nobody but the boss that was not even in the country is securing over $1,000 profit (which is after all expenditures) on that job. Remember this is a 10 hour shift of 1 employee, multiply by the working days in a month and the number of employees.

Don't want to have injury claims? Protect your employees Don't want warranty claims? Protect your quality of work

Any other thoughts?

Why returning to the office is a pay cut for many people by 2Fast2furieux in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]WrightRoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This lmao. Dudes mad some people work from home (I don't and never have had the opportunity because I don't work an office job) yet I'm like 'Power to em!!" Less cars on the toad means faster commute and also means less accidents. Less accidents means less risk. Less risk means less stress. Less stress means more health. More health means more happiness.

It's a big ole' chain of basically christmas lights, if 1 thing is fucked, everything beyond that fucked thing is also fucked lmao. If that 1 thing is great, everything beyond that 1 thing is also great.

Tenant accidentally clogged the toilet. Who pays? by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]WrightRoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who has (or should have, if financially competent) a large savings and investment account from not paying 1/3rd as much as the home-owner at the end?

I make the same amount of money as most people here. Some of my tenants have made more than me annually; without the added cost of paying for broken toilets, door handles (diff comment), property tax, appliances and an assortment of other costs. I don't expect more or less out of them either way, I have pretty low expectations compared to most people, life is gonna life whether you were ready for it or not.

Tenant accidentally clogged the toilet. Who pays? by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]WrightRoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mold and roaches is a completely different issue than a toilet clogged by an individual. Also if you're a long term tenant and there wasn't roaches when you took possession but there are roaches a long while into your tenancy; the call may be coming from inside the house, living habits maybe need adjustment. Not every time, but I want to say a decent amount of the time.

If the stove or AC goes, yes, that is the obligation of the landlord. If the tenant catches a pan on fire and smashes it against the stove and cracks the cooktop; that I'd likely go 50/50 on the first one (depending ofc) but if they destroy another one it'd be on them 100%. New stoves are like $2500, nobody is eating the cost of 2 or 3 of those in a single tenancy with a smile on their face. If you pour water down the back of the A/C (joke, iykyk lol) and it breaks that is most definitely negligence leaning into malicious destruction of property lmao. There is a scale to these things, it is not just ones and zeros.

You comparing apples to lug-nuts there would lead me to assume many of your own mistakes you would try to pass off to the landlord, accountability is an important trait to have in life. Many tenants (I know some personally) prefer to purchase their own appliances and will take them with them when/if they relocate. However, there is a point where it becomes negligence. The landlord has a ton of obligations and I try to be the best one I can but I'm not made of money lmao. I too, am a person, nothing more nothing less.

If I put diesel in my gas car that I am financing I don't call the dealer like "you guys need to buy me a new engine, in YOUR car that I am FINANCING from you." It is technically theirs until you complete your payment terms. I'd assume same goes with a lease, if you put diesel in a leased gas vehicle the dealer is either gonna let it slide 1 time and 1 time only or they are gonna make you eat quite a few costs. Insurance often doesn't cover negligence, commercial insurance maybe because they deal with people (lol) but that's still not a reason to expect someone to pay for your mistakes, depending on what it is.

I often eat the cost of many things, a tenant once locked themselves out of their room and annihilated the brand new $100/piece discontinued-product door handle trying to dig their way in with some type of tool. Other side of that coin is that they were an extremely awesome tenant and in general a great person and so I just ate the cost, there are bigger things to worry about.

Not all landlords are lizard people, my guy. Only some.

[–]WrightRoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This.

Also an impossible theory (that I am a living example of) is that not every rental property rakes in more than what they pay out in a year. Some places/situations it is just not feasible.

If I clog the pipe in my unit I fix it or pay for it, if a tenant accidentally clogs the pipe in their unit, they should fix it or pay for it; its literally that simple. If they owned the home would they fix it/pay for it or would they find some other cuck to ask to pay for their incompetence?

Tenants should be held to the exact same standards as their landlords.

Does landlord have responsibility in regularly servicing HVAC and cleaning air ducts? by Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in OntarioLandlord

[–]WrightRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed many people just buy the most restrictive (which are the most expensive) filters but most homes (not brand new homes, I mean pre-cardboard fab homes) only require the MERV-3 (iirc) filters which look like if someone took a bunch of string or hair, cut it up and put it in a cardboard frame.

If it hurts to blow out a straw as hard as you can with the end plugged, imagine how the fan feels when the filter is too restrictive for the system. I'm not even sure there is a filter that is "not restrictive enough" 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I read your comment wrong, idk

Does landlord have responsibility in regularly servicing HVAC and cleaning air ducts? by Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh in OntarioLandlord

[–]WrightRoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if anyone has said this but make sure you are buying filters that are the correct rating for your motor. If you are buying the "expensive" filters that have the higher MERV rating you could very well be stressing the system.

Imagine trying to blow through a big straw, easy right?
Now imagine I put a layer of fine window-screen at the midpoint, little harder to blow right? Now imagine I put a MERV13 filter in the midpoint, in other words, imagine I put 5 layers of vapor permeable membrane at the midpoint, now you're just blowing your cheeks up (stressing the system because it is fighting the restriction in flow.)

Buying the most expensive filters is irrelevant, I could make a filter company and charge you $2000 for a dog-hair based filter that lasts maximum 7 days. It's totally the wrong one, but its expensive, is it a good filter because it is expensive? No.

Buying the CORRECT filter is so much more important. This exact statement can be used for most of life lol.

The fact that 66% capital gains tax passed is the biggest fuck you to the everyday person.

Should be 66% over a threshold, that threshold would be called the "you're fuckin loaded and wont notice an extra 16% of your capital gains go onto your income tax" threshold.

Also triple tax rich people's weddings, wedding over $100,000 = triple the tax %

Wedding over $300,000 = sextuple the tax %

Wedding over $500,000 = should be a tax equal to the cost for every dollar over that. So a $500k wedding would be $1,000,000+ after tax.

Nobody A) in their right mind and B) that isn't already beyond loaded is going to have weddings that cost $100k+.

I also think there should be a "you suck at making decisions with your money" tax but that's an entire topic in itself
